Noni Madueke

Recommended Posts

I know next to nothing about the lad so genuine question...

Would he come in as number one starting RW? If yes, is he currently good enough for this level? If no, would he be any better than Sowah as a back up forward player, with the latter seemingly able to offer more versatility?

Can't imagine he would be 1st choice, he isn't even first choice for PSV yet - would probably be similar to JJ in his first season, back up and playing against the weaker sides and in cup games etc.

They are different players in what they can offer in terms of versatility, Sowahs versatility is that he can play on either wing (so could offer back up for Barnes), where as with Madueke he can also play upfront (and regularly does for PSV)

  • 2 weeks later...

€20m to get him, not sure he would get that much more playing time with us than he currently gets with PSV though - 11 starts in all competitions, 31 appearances total, 1,252 minutes played (14 games)

Maybe closer to 20 starts with all the competitions we would be in but doubt he would be first choice playing week in week out which it sounds like he wants

http://sportwitness.co.uk/will-come-time-cant-say-no-claim-leicester-can-get-target-offer-e20m/

“There will come a time when you can’t say no” – Claim Leicester can get target if they offer €20m

Rumoured Leicester City target Noni Madueke wants to leave PSV Eindhoven this summer if he’s not guaranteed first-team football in future.

That’s according to Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer, who says a €20m offer from the Foxes would be hard for the Dutch club to refuse.

Madueke has been linked with Leicester over the past few weeks, with a report at the end of last month stating that the Foxes interest is ‘concrete’.

It was claimed that Brendan Rodgers’ side and several others around Europe are all keen on the 19-year-old, who could be available for as little as €20m.

That price tag was pointed out by De Telegraaf at the beginning of the month, who backed up Leicester’s interest in Madueke and stated he can be got for €15-20m if they want him.

Now Timmer has confirmed as much, too, stating that the player wants a move away if he is not guaranteed the first-team football he thinks he deserves.

“He definitely wants more playing time,” he told VI Live, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.

“He chose PSV because he wanted to develop in the first team. He really wants to leave if he is not going to play.

“There will come a time when you can’t say no. If Leicester City want to pay twenty million, then you can’t say no.

“There are a lot of Champions League clubs thinking about him, and he’s worth a lot of money. A club like Arsenal coming rattling the moneybag, what then?”

Puzzler this. Why would a player who wants more game time than he’s getting at PSV choose to join a club like ours?

A sensible view from him is that he would get comparatively limited playing time in the first season, while he adapted to the Prem and improved and matured,  and that if he made the grade he would expect to be first choice in his second season. At 19 it would be totally unrealistic to be an automatic first choice at whatever club he went to - like any other player, you have to work your way into the team

....just looking across the way...it is easy to see why he would be thinking a move to us is not a holding pattern for his career!!!

Watching Fofana come to us and being involved in the majority of our games and his subsequent reviews and projections makes his thought process even more understandable. Leicester City from across the way I would think are viewed differently than how, we (as supporters) see ourselves. The money we pay, our trajectory our investment in infrastructure and our style of play with the willingness to play young players is now setting us apart from a lot of other Premiership and European teams and players are now backing themselves that they can come in at day one, and compete for the starting eleven.

Sounds like he has a bit of an attitude about him when it comes to not playing... sound familiar?

https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/05/17/reported-15m-leeds-and-leicester-target-dropped-manager-criticises-his-attitude/

Reported Leeds United and Leicester City target Noni Madueke was left on the bench by PSV Eindhoven this weekend, with coach Roger Schmidt questioning the winger’s professionalism and attitude, as reported by AD.

Just last week, Madueke admitted to ESPN that he had grown increasingly frustrated about his lack of game-time at the Phillips Stadium.

And it is fair to say the England U21 international hasn’t done his hopes of a regular starting berth much good.

Madueke, who has been linked with a move to Leeds United and Crystal Palace by the Standard, was left out of the XI as PSV brought the curtain down on the Eredivisie season with a 1-1 draw away at Utrecht on Sunday.

When asked why the one-time Tottenham young captain had been omitted, Schmidt certainly didn’t hold back.

“Noni did not give the impression of being ready (to play). Not during the training sessions, not last Thursday against PEC Zwolle. I couldn’t possibly reward him,” said the former Bayer Leverkusen boss, whose high-octane, intense style of football doesn’t really align with a player going through the motions.

“Noni has had a good period, but football is more than just having talent. You have to develop, otherwise others will catch up with you.

“If you want to play for yourself, you can play hockey or tennis.”

The message, then, is crystal clear.

Madueke has a lot to learn when it comes to understanding the importance of everyone pulling in the same direction.

The Mail claim that Brendan Rodgers wants to take the £15 million-rated forward to Leicester, having tried and failed to sign the 19-year-old for Celtic.

But if Madueke wants to shine amongst Brendan’s band of brothers, with the FA Cup winners showcasing their wholesome togetherness during those wild Wembley celebrations, he must take this opportunity to grow and mature as a man and a player.
