Bate is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the country, coming close to making his debut for the senior side when he was named on the bench against Sheffield United and Bayern Munich last year.

Five clubs have expressed an interest: West Ham United, Leeds United, Liverpool, Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion. However, West Ham and Leeds are the clubs pushing the hardest and both are believed to have made Chelsea an offer.

Somehow, the comments are even worse...

I quite liked "Leicester tax is a thing though". It's good to know that the smarter fans of these so called big clubs are scared to do business with us.

Out of the three players in that article from the Athletic, Valentino Livramento is the one id love for us to be looking at for the future. Unreal talent.

"Wouldn't cost £100m"

"@UtdOptimist"

You'd have thought United fans would have learnt after Maguire that we don't deal cheap with our top players. United delusionist it should say

.....that is stretching things a bit!!!

Is it?  Who have we replaced him with that has worked out?  I don’t think it’s stretching at all. It’s bang on.

That being said, would I want Mahrez back?  No.

...as I said before, not in this market!!!

Doesn't matter what his market value is. If the club don't want to or need to sell they ask for whatever price they want. Just like West Ham would want silly money for Rice

...that is not the scenario brought up though!!!

The thought is that Lingard + £30m should be sufficient for Maddison to move the other way. Clubs can ask anything they want, that is true, but in this market place asking £90m (for a player we have been speculating on leaving) is far from a reasonable expectations.

The forum topics are hovering around £60 -£70m, the market is somewhat depressed, it is unrealistic for Maddison to be sold for £90m, in this market!!!
