I have no problem with criticizing players on a forum like this if they play poorly but directly to them won't do anything to help the situation. In fact it's just embarrassing to do that at a training session.

SouthStandUpperTier Posted 19 August 2021 Share Posted 19 August 2021 I reckon Arteta asked someone at the club to go and get him something from Harry Ramsden's and they misheard him.

I would say I hope it never gets like that here but we're already starting to see it with perez. I've been a fan for over 40 years. Seen some very shocking players, play for the club. Not once have I said any player should "get out of my club." I think some fans don't appreciate what they have. Without commenting on other fans from other clubs, I cringe every time I read a fan saying "Perez out" on here. We all want someone better on the right wing. Hopefully we'll sign someone. But its very short sighted to want Perez out even then. Right now Brendan clearly feels he's the best option we have on the right, even if its a far from ideal scenario. Some people have suggested Richardo or Praet out there, and we've seen instances where both have been given a role on the right side, but it would appear Rodgers favours using Perez there, and to be honest, I dont think he's as bad as some make out, and certainly seems to try hard. While fans may disagree about who to utilise on the right it'll be Brendan who chooses the team and, as good as we may think our opinions are, he's a manager who's won the FA Cup for the first time in our history and had us in the top 4 for most of the last 2 seasons, while mostly using Perez on the right side of midfield. There's an argument that Perez would be better as backup for Maddison, and, while I think and hope that KDH will prove to be a better option, we've not seen enough of him in the senior side to make a valid judgement, so it might be wise to use him like this if we sign a right winger. Even if not in the first 11 any more you'd assume there's a place for him in the number of cup games we're likely (hopefully) to play too this season. If we buy a right winger and he gets injured (and let's be fair we seem to be good at picking up injuries at the moment) then what??? At the very least Perez is (IMHO) a useful squad player. Some reports suggest Hamza and Praet are looking to leave to get more game time, so we may just need the remaining midfield players to give us enough cover to last the season as it is. So I wouldn't be calling for him to go. I'd be grateful he's here, even if he wouldn't be my first choice in the matchday squad. 10

Do agree it’s a good plan to go young. However the fees they are paying for some of those players are crazy. Also there is a serious lack of leadership which will most likely negatively effect the younger players. Who they going to learn from Pepe, Xhaka, Ahbameyang, or Lacazette. Then they got the Arsenal fans all over them from the start, they will ruin some of their careers.

All the policies Wenger used to do employ seem to have gone out the window now. For example Wenger only used to offer one year deals to players who were 30. Look at how Pires, a great footballer and Arsenal icon, wanted more years and couldn't get it. Whereas now Arsenal seem content on offering 2 and 3 year deals to players who wouldn't get them elsewhere. Selling Martinez for 20m and now signing a worse keeper for more. Would have never happened under Wenger. I think Edu is the main problem.
AjcW Posted 19 August 2021 Share Posted 19 August 2021 Arsenal are getting bits of the strategy right.... signing younger for example. But what they really needed to do was raise funds from selling the likes of Xhaka, Auba, Lacazette and all the dog muck they have out on loan... and investing it in 4 or 5 key starters. Someone mentioned it above but it's absolutely nuts that Arsenal weren't in for Daka, Soumare and probably even someone like Vestergarrd... all 3 would walk into their starting XI. Super_horns Posted 19 August 2021 Share Posted 19 August 2021 They certainly won't get any re-sale value for any of these players so basically hoping these new signings come good for the future. It's the kids come good or bust really.
