Premier League 2021/22 Thread

Recommended Posts

Slow news week. Mountain out of a molehill. I doubt the majority of Man City fans care. He made a slightly weird comment in a press conference that he probably didn't need to say, one fan group spokesperson made a big deal out of it (or at least some opportunistic clickbait journalist over emphasising a quote did) and then he was asked if he'd apologise.

Storm in a teacup would be an exaggeration.

They have probably lost a fair amount of the old fan base through boredom. What i mean by that is that they turn up every week & their team just wins & generally at a canter which after awhile has bored them rigid.

Maybe i'm being to old school :dunno:

Peps bored them. Not through winning, just bored them.

Man City just aren't a huge club like their rivals. You'd think with the massive success they've had for the last decade there would be a long queue for tickets irrespective of ticket prices.

What seems to be the issue is that they are struggling to sell out for the run of the mill cup games or lesser Champions League matches. The league attendances seem absolutely fine but the League Cup 3rd round, FA Cup 4th round v lower division teams doesn't appeal to the casual fan. Plus, on this occasion, it was a midweek game which probably rules out longer distance fans who could make the weekend, or maybe they'd rather go to the PSG match?

Man City are a well supported club but they don't have three people for every seat wanting to attend where Liverpool and Man United do. The hardcore is strong but beyond that it is limited.

We've made huge strides in recent years but we had 5k empty seats for Birmingham 18 months ago in the FA Cup, we might not sell out our remaining group games in Europe. Adding thousands to the gate for every game is a big task.

Exactly.

If we had a 70,000 seater stadium like they do, we wouldn’t fill it every week.

Reality is that Manchester United and Liverpool have generations, upon generations of fan base.

What are they bored of, their team scoring loads of goals? The last four home games they've scored 21 and conceded 3. I wish our home games were as boring as theirs.

I think it's more likely that they go the distance in pretty much every competition they're in and they've got a largely working class fan base that's yet to catch up with their success on the pitch.

Pep had the temerity to ask that Man City supporters turn up to support Man City. Cheek of the man. Man City supporters rightly took the hump, 'you don't tell us who to support' they said.

Like I care, either way. Maybe Man City could look at ticket prices if they want a full house for less fancied games.

They offered cheap tickets in general and via platforms like UniDays and got laughed at by Twitter virgins because they were so. Can they win?

Saint-Maximin is far too good for Newcastle. Rips the Leeds defence to shreds and then sees Almiron and Joelinton in the box as the only possible options

Imagine the Toon meltdown if Ashley sold him in January 🤣
