Given Watford's track record, he'll be lucky to still be there by New Year.  Hope it goes well for him but it's not a job you take as a long term opportunity.

Tough run to start with too.

Cannot see us getting many points till mid December.

Part of the problem is that they’ve never played the game. They try to follow the rules in a book.

if there was a path into being ref like there is to being a coach or pundit we’d be surprised by how quickly it improves.

so many poor decisions happen because refs don’t understand the momentum of playing the sport.

It’s just not glamorous enough for ex pros to do it

There's some truth in what you say but the real problem is it's not taught as a profession. It should be run by the FA or prem league as a real educational course with physical fitness , First aid as well as the rules of the game. It may take a little time to evolve but it would bring about better performances in time.

While I agree it sounds like a good idea to use ex pros, In reality they would be slaughtered, Not only by players but also the Fans.

Claudio, what a man. Wish he’d stay away from the premiership though, don’t want his reputation to take a hit.

Be great to have him back at the KP though, what a legend

It's a few quid for him.

Very strange appointment by Watford though!

3 wins in 17 games for Fulham. Its already pretty low tbh.

The lightning in a bottle of your PL win was very much a single season minority for him.

The euros were decent that’s why the refs got a big slap on the back but one good tournament doesn’t prove euro refs are great. In the contrary we’ve already seen with our games so far how bad the standard is.

Yes the Refs were decent in the Euros but some of the reasons are they're the best from their Countries and Eufa hold seminars pre competition to get them all singing from the same page.

What’s funny is that so many people were completely against bringing in Tarkowski this summer. We’d genuinely have had no issues if we’d gone for him :teehee:

Well apart from the issue of spending £25m that we don’t have and a total outlay of approx £40m on a player almost out of contract. We don’t have the finances of a big 6 club you know

I’m not paying much attention to his time at Fulham. His CV of clubs is pretty remarkable actually, been at some top clubs. Unfortunately hasn’t won loads and loads.

Give a man a Kante and he can achieve wonderful things.

Why the hell would a 70 year old , very comfortably off man want to come to England and do this. Claudio retire to the seaside for goodness sake.

Rolling Stones mate. The limelight is tough to walk away from for some.

He did well at Chelsea when he only had one season of oil money, he was just overshadowed by Jose who took things to another level.

Because he's going to get paid a s**t-tonne of money for what is most likely only going to be a few months work (at most). You'd probably do the same.

I most definitely would and am available anytime. A short-term contract for a shed load of money would suit me nicely :D

Bit disrespectful that so many think this about money. He has plenty.

I think he just loves football and wants to be involved

Totally agree, Claudio isn't doing it for the shallow, superficial reason I would.
