Premier League 2021/22 Thread

Heard a good point on the radio yesterday, that we should actually feel sorry for Fred. He’s the only one if you watch closely making the right movements to actually get a press going but the overrated Fernandes thinks that’s beneath him so gets bypassed far too easily. Pogba the same. You can see it in our goals against them too. Just woeful amounts of arrogance in that side.

Its easy for them all to put the blame on to likes of Fred though isnt.

They do have some good fans but a fair old chunk of them deserve what they get.

Because living through the United dominate and win everything years means we get to enjoy it.

It's not quite the same as Arsenal as they were on the slide for a while but 10 years ago Man U were still winning leagues and cups with relative ease. Even Man City only beat them by 1 goal.

Still doesn't justify for the media to go on and on and on. You'd think there was only one game at the w/end.

United are more corporation than club.  Decisions are made to maximize brand value -- to appeal to a superficial global fanbase who think you can “win” the transfer market like a trophy.

How’s a manager like Conte going to react when told to keep the armband on the ₤80M fridge?  The antimatter to a proper captain.

Can he work with a board who will continue to blow fortunes on players who sell shirts in Asia, but ruin his team’s shape?  Will he start Maguire, Pogba and Ronaldo in every game despite often terrible effort and production?

They’re going nowhere without an ugly, public teardown.  But that would be hard on the “brand”.  I’m not sure that board are ready to take the necessary medicine.

What a waste of a club and league. Assurances the Saudi government will have no say in the team, and days later the Finance Minister is gloating about what "we" will do in the league. I have no problems with billionaire owners -- I am from the U.S. after all, but country's sovereign wealth funds using the Premier League to whitewash their human rights abuses and offer some bread and circuses to the crowds back home? Just awful.

Next Saturday is the most significant match of the season for us. The Gunners have been ridiculed and laughed at on here but have found some decent form of late. We have had a good week and should be pretty confident. They are probably our chief rivals in the race for the top six and a lot of people will be paying close attention to the result.

You know I haven't heard anyone say yet after the debacle at Old Trafford yesterday that it was our performance last week which softened Manure up for L'pool.

Neville made reference to our game quite a lot in the post-match comments yesterday.

Referred to us as what he'd class as a half decent team and yet only a few weeks ago he was saying we should be held in the same regard as the big 6 in the league 😂😂

Hopefully Ole stays. Last thing we want is a decent manager actually going there.

They're more than a summer away from being really good again. They have some players that need shipping out straight away before it goes the same way again

Sadly the BBC reporting on this is doing its best to make the racism case still:

Quote

The banner featured illustrations of a man dressed in traditional Arabic clothing alongside what appeared to be Premier League chief executive Richard Masters.

The "man dressed in traditional Arabic clothing" line appears a couple of times despite it being a far better likeness of Mohammed bin Salman than the Richard Masters depiction which they have no problem putting a name to.  But I suppose we can't have the government's mouthpiece upsetting our good friends and allies.

Ronaldo, Maguire, Pogba, Fernandes will all need to go, if they want to adapt and press like top teams.

I’m not sure that’s what the fans want but it’s the reality.
