Claude Puel needs rescuing from Saint-Etienne after threats from supporters, wonder if he could do a job for the toon. Seem to recall he did turn us round from a dodgy start which seen us in the bottom three in October 2017 and managed to lead us to a top ten finish. Problem was his long term vision was never clear, maybe he could be the right man for the present for Newcastle.

If this is true, it is an amazing demonstration of mismanagement in the layer *above* the first team coach :D

Sliding Doors remake aside, from what I can gather from a quick google is that they paid Poch £20m in severance, Jose £16m, and now Nuno £14m.

That’s £60m in sacking managers in just the last 2 years.

And that figure doesn’t even include what they paid those managers in the first place - they’re paying Conte £20m for just 18 months work.

Imagine If this goes spectacularly wrong and he had a blow out with levy. Would be an incredible amount  of compo

I don't get how a company (I'm calling it that not a football club deliberately) can function long term with £1bn worth of debt with it's income at the levels it is and while they are still prepared to spend vast sums of money on things like managers and players. Could you imagine if a few years down the line when the domestic TV deal comes up for renewal if they only manage to say get 2 or 3bn rather than the 5bn they get now. Spurs could be in real trouble.

And don’t forget all the associated staff pay offs too, much less I am sure,  it it could mount up

Just had a look at Newcastle’s Christmas period and it looks horrible:

Leicester (A)

Liverpool (A)

Man City (H)

Man United (H)

Everton (A)

It is very likely that they could be cut adrift by January. In fact, I could see them doing a large scale of what we did in the Championship under Sven.

Easy start but 4 difficult fixtures to follow:ph34r:

I think Hodgson and Fergie are the only ones I can remember in the last decade who just left at the end of their contract with no issues.

Any others?

Technically Allardyce left at the end of his West Ham contract, as did Benitez with Newcastle. I don't know about the 'no issues' part though.

So Newcastle have ended up with the man they probably should have given the job to last year.

I've been his absolute biggest critic, but if he keeps Newcastle up and is supported by a good DOF signing players, he might just do okay.

Newcastle need to invest in specialist defensive coaches though as he's not got the foggiest!

I think their fans will be happy with that, a manager with premier league experience and more importantly, this will be the first time they've had a manager that wants to try and score goals in about a decade.
