We concede too many goals

We’ll not do any good this season until we defend better as a team

our Goal Diff. is abysmal we have conceded the most goals amongst the team in the top half of the table..

We have the same goal difference as Arsenal in 5th which is negative 3, Spurs in 6th have -4 & Brighton 9th with -2 the only clubs in positive GD are the top 4 & other than Man U & Wolves with 0 GD every other club is in negative GD so in reality we have the joint 8th best GD in the league.
We are 4pts from 5th , 5pts from 4th & now pulling away from 18th with +9pts we are hardly an anomaly within the context of the league so far.

We sure score a lot of goals and if we can cut out what are basic mistakes at the back I have no doubt we can be up there

It’s quite obviously right to award the goal. In Arsenals defends well, Smith-Rowe he didn’t see him down. For the integrity of the game Arsenal should’ve let United equalise. Arteta would be throwing all toys out the pram if that was the other way round.

Nonsense.

If so, any goalkeeper should just go down and feign injury every time the opposition attacks.

Difference is, we've conceded 25 goals which is the 3rd worse record in the division after Newcastle (30), Norwich (28) and Watford (26).

It'll be a marker of how good Wes actually is (when fully fit) if we do instantly look better at the back.

When he left Saint Étienne they went fr0m defensively solid to absolutely horrific and have never recovered

You could say similar for us really (not quite as bad lol)

If he does have that much influence on teams then that's potentially Van Dijk levels of good... essentially we'll have to appreciate him for the rest of this season and next because that's all we'll be getting if he returns at the same level lol

I think even half fit we'd look better. I remember him winning some massive headers away from our area when in danger. Even just a few would help at the moment. It looks like every cross into our box will result in a goal.

9/10 times when a keeper goes down like that the ref stops the play.  Im so glad he didnt get away with it, as it was clearly a ploy and he hadnt realised it was his own team mate.

What's annoying is that VAR had to tell the ref. He should have just known it was a goal.  If he had blown just a second earlier it wouldnt have counted and Arsenal literally played no part in it. Thankfully it worked out

hahaa how did I miss that.

But tbh it's actually not a strong subject of mine anyway, I'll not share what "result" I got when I did it at school..

Think the league table, as tight as it is from 9th to 16th is showing so far after 14 or so games how inconsistent all the teams are within those positions.

It will only take a few wins from any side at the minute to really push up the table.

Hopefully we continue to hit a bit of form/consistency over the coming festive period to put ourselves back in and around the top 6, which will psychologically give the players a lift, with players then returning in the new year to give us that extra push for second half of the season.

No disrespect to Burnley at all, but Newcastle simply have to win tomorrow.

Not sure why that would be disrespectful to Burnley. Newcastle have to win to start winning games soon if they have any hope.

As in that they can be a decent team, but are generally one of the weakest in the league.

On the radio the question was ‘if newcastle lose tomorrow, is it all over for them’?

I mean after 15 games and with the money to bring in half a dozen players in jan who will enable them to improve notably.

if Howe gets it right feb onwards  they could average 1.5pts  per game.  That could earn them 24 points so they only need to have 13 or 14 come the  back end of jan to survive.

the nonsense on the media re newcastle is just so ……….

Tbf it doesn't matter who Newcastle play they need results. They really had to beat Norwich. Now they really really have to beat Burnley and in reality they really could do with beating Leicester.
