Didn’t change the outcome of anything the ball clipping that guy. VAR ruled it out, the on field lino gave the goal, we want to see goals.

Wow you guys need to know the rules.

Imagine if the 23 is the goalkeeper. He is the last line of defence - goalkeeper or defender, he's the last player.

Doesn't matter if it goes in or not. Its offside sadly.

But West Ham’s 23 was playing him on wasn’t he?

Unless Raphina was number 10 by the side of the goal? not sure but that's the only player who was offside. no idea to be honest

I know the rules. I hate VAR and they goal would’ve counted prior to this mess.

There need to be 2 defending players beyond him to play him onside, it's just that usually the goalkeeper being goal-side of the attacker can be taken for granted.

You’ve completely and utterly lost me

23 is playing the Leeds guy with his hands out in front of him onside. No?

It's offside.

You don't know the rules if you're disputing it lol

It literally doesn't matter if the ball was going in or not. It's touched him so therefore it is offside. As @Vacamion said, it's correct but seems cruel.

No idea why we never went for Bowen.

Left footed right winger, direct, plenty of energy, set pieces. Can't believe we didn't want him.

We did. But his attitude in tentative talks and the character checks from ex team mates weren’t glowing.

You’re missing my point about VAR.

No, 23 is the last defender. Because the keeper is so far out, 23 is the last man so to speak. If the keeper was still on his line, then 23 would be playing Rodrigo onside.

I’m aware he’s in an offside position but the ball hitting him didn’t make any difference to the outcome. Very harsh and probably technically the correct decision.

That's not the rule though whether there was a difference to the outcome?

Fckin hell 😂😂

How longs this been a rule? 😂😂😂

Since 1990... lol

https://www.football-stadiums.co.uk/articles/what-is-the-offside-rule-in-football/

Edit: Nvm I misread, 1990 is when being level became a thing.  1925 is the correct answer to the question.

Since 1915. Spurs were crying about it in the week too

Wow

I’ve honestly never known that 😂😂

Used to run the line for my brothers Sunday league as a kid too. Played as a defender at a relatively decent level Sunday league wise myself too

Im going to have to go and have a lie down to get my head round that 😂

Fcuk me I’ve said to the rules is probably the correct decision but as others have said it’s annoying when VAR gets involved in something like that.
