For any who didn't wish to look at the whole document, here are the bits concerning Abramovich and Usmanov.

IMO should be required reading for Chelsea and Everton supporters

ABRAMOVICH 1: ROMAN 2: ARKADYEVICH DOB: 24/10/1966. POB: Saratov, Russia a.k.a: ABRAMOVICH, Roman Nationality: (1) Russia (2) Israel (3) Portugal Passport Number: (1) CB982788 (2) 24132276 Passport Details: (1) Portugal (2) Israel Position: (1) Businessman – Owner of Chelsea Football Club (2) Stakeholder in Evraz PLC and Norilsk Nickel

(UK Sanctions List Ref):RUS0270 (UK Statement of Reasons):Roman Arkadyevich ABRAMOVICH (hereafter ABRAMOVICH) is a prominent Russian businessman and pro-Kremlin oligarch. ABRAMOVICH is associated with a person who is or has been involved in destabilising Ukraine and undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, namely Vladimir Putin, with whom ABRAMOVICH has had a close relationship for decades. This association has included obtaining a financial benefit or other material benefit from Putin and the Government of Russia. This includes tax breaks received by companies linked to ABRAMOVICH, buying and selling shares from and to the state at favourable rates, and the contracts received in the run up to the FIFA 2018 World Cup. Therefore, ABRAMOVICH has received preferential treatment and concessions from Putin and the Government of Russia. ABRAMOVICH is also associated with a person who is or has been involved in obtaining a benefit from or supporting the Government of Russia, namely: former First Deputy Prime Minister, and current Chairman of the Management Board for VEB, Igor Shuvalov; former General Director of Gazprom Investment Holdings, Alisher Usmanov, both of whom were sanctioned on 3 March 2022 for being involved persons in obtaining a benefit from or supporting the Russian government through carrying on business in a sector of strategic significance to the Russian government. ABRAMOVICH is associated with these individuals through close business relationships and mutual assistance, including ABRAMOVICH financing Shuvalov's trust and the subsequent loans from Shuvalov to enable Usmanov's purchase of a British mill. Furthermore, ABRAMOVICH is or has been involved in destabilising Ukraine and undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, via Evraz PLC, a steel manufacturing and mining company in which ABRAMOVICH has a significant shareholding and over which ABRAMOVICH exercises effective control. Evraz PLC is or has been involved in providing financial services, or making available funds, economic resources, goods or technology that could contribute to destabilising Ukraine or undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine – which includes potentially supplying steel to the Russian military which may have been used in the production of tanks. ABRAMOVICH exercises effective control of Evraz PLC given his significant shareholding and the shareholdings of his close associates who it is reasonable to expect ABRAMOVICH could direct through his close ties with Abramov and Shvidler, as well as his power to nominate directors of the board. ABRAMOVICH is or has been involved in obtaining a benefit from or supporting the Government of Russia, as ABRAMOVICH and Evraz PLC carry on business in sectors of strategic significance to the Government of Russia – namely the construction, defence and extractive sectors. (Gender):Male List

USMANOV 1: ALISHER 2: BURKHANOVICH DOB: 09/09/1953. POB: Chust , Uzbekistan a.k.a: USMANOV, Alisher Nationality: Russia Position: Founder of USM Holdings Other Information: (UK Sanctions List Ref):RUS0266

(UK Statement of Reasons):Alisher USMANOV is a prominent Russian businessman and pro-Kremlin oligarch. USMANOV is closely associated with high-profile individuals within the Government of Russia, both financially through his considerable business links and through relationships with significant individuals including President Vladimir Putin. Therefore, USMANOV is associated with individuals within the Government of Russia who are involved in destabilising and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Furthermore, USMANOV – via his holding company USM HOLDINGS – carries on business in sectors of strategic significance to the Government of Russia. (Gender):Male Listed on: 03/03/202

I can’t see an owner financing Chelsea liked they are used to.

I don't know. They are based in London, they are known the world over, they have a strong playing squad, a world class manager, a world class academy. Obviously the longer this goes on, the more those things may deteriorate. If someone comes in really soon it wouldn't take that much for someone to maintain them as a regular top four club.

Does this mean Chelsea will basically get no money coming in whilst the situation carries on or they get taken over ?

Totally, and the UK govt is rightly suspicious of Abramovic's statement that (l paraphrase) the proceeds of the sale will go to helping those victims of the "special military operation".

Who might that be, Russian soldiers and their families?

Or maybe a group of his fellow billionaires distributing it in the oh so transparent and corruption free world of herr Putin?

I think as and when it is sold the govt will insist it is a UK based charity not one controlled by the civilised worlds greatest enemy.

Hopefully they get a Kronke/Glazer type owner who buy the club on debt, operate a self sustainable model with no investment and take out a big dividend payout each year.

Won’t Newcastle away supporters already have tickets for this weekend?

Anyone with a ticket can go as that is not financing Chelsea/Abramovic /Putin since the sanctions were imposed,  future sales not allowed only season ticket holders.

Remember when we got all happy that Man City would face serious sanctions? Or the ESL teams?

Nothing will happen, it'll be worked around and they'll carry on as normal.

Not sure I'm that keen on a Government just being able to seize any asset they feel like either, another slippery slope.

During an illegal invasion? Cmon man!!

The problem in the western world is that we’ve gone so far left that people think the government shouldn’t have power. The whole point in an electoral system is that people are employed to represent the people... if you don’t like the people in charge then go out and make a difference, campaign for the right people.

people are so against any form of control ( for good or bad) that they will argue anything they do. Because of this they don’t get involved in nearly as much as they should. We aren’t far from the government sitting as far back as the royals.

If you are worried about governments actually doing things to punish unfathomable war crimes then I think it’s you that has issues.

Whats the slippery slope? That corrupt people shouldn’t be allowed to do what they want in our country? That’s a wonderful slide I’d happily go down

Christ I think that's the first time I've ever been called 'far left' :D

I don't know the ins and outs, frankly I don't care enough to investigate tbh. I just don't like the fact this Government seems to be gaining more and more powers on a weekly basis, we've already seen them create new bills in order to try and prevent people protesting, we've already seen that they don't believe the laws matter to themselves, we've already seen them decide it's illegal to visit each other in peoples homes etc.

Additionally, the Government are quite happy to let certain Saudis or Chinese do exactly what they want in this country, if the same rules being applied to Roman were applied to those people, they should really be taking control of all their assets, but they're not...

I despise this government's ethics and double standards but in this they should have every civilised persons full support, the fact that they have allowed dubious (at best) people to buy into our culture is not a reason to not sanction Abramovic its a chance to look at why we (they) allow murderers, gangsters and despots to whitewash their dreadful doings just because they have gained financially from their crimes and/or extreme cruelty.

Time for all of us to wake up from the cosy blind eye world of fluffy cuddly tyrants like Putin, Bolsanaro and Trump and stop being the pushovers that emboldened the Dictator to invade both Crimea and Ukraine.

I suppose they could give tickets away for free to boost the crowd numbers up at home games, although that would piss the paying season ticket holders off.

Unless they give off free tickets to families that live in poverty in London, give them the opportunity to go. The ticket will also cover there travel to the game on public transport.

Erm…. If it were “so far left” wouldn’t everyone be proponents of greater state control and less de-regulation? Since the Brexit vote a generalisation would be that the UK has, in fact, moved inexorably towards the right.

My personal bugbear these days is that you can’t seem to have any opinion on social media these days without being labelled a hard line socialist or some sort of right wing bigot. Most people are actually somewhere in between
