Christian Fuchs Leaving

Loved him, could we get him back for a season, perhaps by playing just 45 mins a match.

Pretty sure his wife and daughter live in the US which is why he wanted to move there. It’s clear he still loves us a club but I can’t see him wanting to come back in a coaching role sadly.

He’s said in interviews he stayed so long here because he loved the club, but he found it really tough missing so much of seeing his daughter grow up.

Fuchs playing for Charlotte against Chelsea right now. Ben Chillwell playing for Chelsea. Both LBs ex-Leicester playing for my local team here in North Carolina.

They beat them on penalties - worth watching the highlights for the absolute state of Conor Gallagher's effort alone. :fishing:

Christian Fuchs appears to have found a surprise new scale of popularity since joining the MLS after figures released show the veteran defender has the second highest amount of jersey sales.

Fuchs joined Charlotte from Leicester City last summer and following a year in the United States appears to have build a huge popularity judging by the amount of supporters buying replica shirts with his name on.

According to MLSSoccer, the 36-year-old has the second highest shirt sales in the division, with only Gareth Bale's summer arrival at LAFC eclipsing his total for 2022.

The rankings are based on the overall retail sales of adidas MLS shirts from the league's online store from the start of the 2022 season, which commenced from the end of February, to September 1.

Fuchs spent last season on loan at Charlotte Independence after his mid-season arrival but has settled well into the MLS this term.

He has featured mainly as a left-back while also playing as a centre-back for Charlotte and making 25 appearances while also contributing three goals.

The former Austria international is also captain of the team and clearly has proven a real hit with supporters.

It's not the first time Fuchs has found himself a surprise inclusion near the summit, having played a key role in Leicester's famous shock Premier League title triumph during the 2015-16 season.

Fuchs departed the King Power Stadium in the summer of 2021 shortly after helping the Foxes clinch another surprise trophy by helping the club win their first ever FA Cup triumph after defeating Chelsea in the final at Wembley.

I don't actually think those sales are that much of a shock personally.

He's had a massive american fanbase even before going over there, lived in New York (well, family did) the entire time he played for us so was always there, and the romance of our league win still plays a massive part i'd say.

He's had his Fox Soccer academy over there for ages too.

But yes, you're probably also right on that lol

First signing and the captain for an expansion team— a lot of fans knew who he was but there’s an extra element of excitement around new teams, which is reflected in increased shirt sales.

Also doesn’t hurt that he’s carried on his great work off the field and the fans adore him in Charlotte!
