I don’t think we ever got far enough in the competition to play an Italian side.

Nope. I’m wrong @Manini

Obviously couldn’t happen now but I bet that was a treat for fans back in the day - we’ll I’m saying it couldn’t. It does lol but with less European comps back then I bet it was good

This is a very real worry though more for our fans than their players. Foreign teams always see English teams as a scalp and that’s the case on and off the pitch. So be careful with f you’re going.

I think the group is great though! Yeah it’s tricky but that’s what we need to get to the next level - quality / tricky opposition in truly competitive fixtures.

Fully suspect Spartak and Napoli fans won't get out of bed for us. Italian clubs generally don't watch the EL and Spartak probably laugh at us.

Tough group that. Finish 3rd and we’re off to the Europa conference league.

You're shitting me! My brain exploded when i realised group runners up play 3rd place champions League clubs!

Be funny to end up in it and beat spurs though! 🤣

Obviously everybody knows a Russian visa is £100-£150??

Don't you need to go London to collect it as well?

I know they've waved the visa in the past with match tickets and they did for the World Cup in 2018, but doubt they will for this one.

I know they've waved the visa in the past with match tickets and they did for the World Cup in 2018, but it's a terrible tie logistically.

Since the World Cup they have used the FanId system for most events like this. Covid will probably mean they won’t though this time.

I hope you’re right! Russian and Polish clubs are notoriously racist, specifically their Ultras. These grounds do have brilliant atmosphere but the racial undercurrent is not pleasant.

Napoli fans are not happy to have drawn us. Wanted to avoid Leicester before the draw was made.

We have quite a decent reputation as a good footballing team on the continent I think. They’ll be in for a nice surprise lol

With the reduction from 48 to 32 teams, and the importance of every position in the group in terms of further progress, the Europa League is a vastly improved product this season. Making our mark in it will be quite some achievement.

Both clubs have hosted British supporters with no incident. Worth reading this from an Asian Liverpool fan when they visited Spartak Moscow https://www.thisisanfield.com/2017/09/reds-russia-diary-liverpool-fan-moscow/

If you go looking for it, you'll find it of course. Naples is far more tricky because it's linked to crime in a lot of cases.

That’s great to hear!

I worked in Moscow for a month a few years ago and was really impressed with it. The central area specifically is world class. Overall in fact I’d say it’s a nicer city than Paris, though perhaps that’s not saying too much these days.
