Sancho has just moved for £73m

i’m not sure we can justify asking for much more than £60m this summer …….

We can if we don't want to sell him. Dortmund had promised Sancho he could leave since last summer if their asking price was met

Their asking price last summer was higher. They’ve had to accept a lower fee because this summer, prices are a bit depressed due to the pandemic

we would get more for him next summer as things get back to normal

but if he doesn’t sign a new deal then we won’t cos he’ll be entering his last year.

i simply can’t understand why youri’s agent would advise him to sign a new contract which could earn him an extra 3 mill over the next year when he could just sit out the next twelve months and then ask for a ten mill s/o fee as we would only be able to get around £30m for him.  of course if we managed to qualify for CL then he may be tempted to stay longer with us but I think he has his career mapped out

I'd imagine that Sancho deal was layered with add-ons and we know that united like to pay in instalments. Maybe Dortmund dropped the price a few mil in order to secure a higher up front payment.

The Faily Fail bigging up the move to Liverpool today.

If he is going, get is done quickly.

But then again, super trustworthy Sky Sports say Liverpool are about to sign Renato Sanches as the Wijnaldum replacement. Its so difficult to know who to believe with all these quality yet conflicting reports....

It’s almost like nobody will know what’s happening until it happens.

The Anfield machines stealth attacks about how Youri is ‘desperate’, ‘heart set upon’ and ‘determined’ to secure his move to Liverpool is a sight to behold.

:nigel:

Yes and apparently he has decided what the fee will be as well

How long is it sustainable to pay out ludicrous amounts to retain players for a club our size ? Only possible with a rich benefactor to cover the losses when wages alone exceed turnover , madness.

We’ve lost loads of wages off the books last year. Presuming earnings get back to normal this season it should be fine.

"Belgian outlet Voetbal24 report that Tielemans is keen to push through the move to Anfield and that Liverpool are willing to meet Leicester's asking price."

The only interesting line in that article.

They haven’t even quoted the player or their source it’s almost as if they have made it up out the blue (surprise surprise). Daily express seems to have caught on to that article or whatever you want to call it and are running with this…

Youri Tielemans 'really wants Liverpool transfer' as Klopp makes Renato Sanches decision

Youri Tielemans is reportedly a target for Liverpool this summer as they look to replace Gini Wijnaldum...

Surprise reports in Belgium claim Youri Tielemans 'really wants' to complete a move to Liverpool this summer. The Leicester midfield maestro won't be short of offers if he does decide to move on from the King Power Stadium before the start of next season, having previously been a target for Manchester United.

Tielemans is currently on his holidays after representing Belgium at Euro 2020.

Leicester are expecting him to join up with their squad in a few weeks' time as they crank up preparations for the new Premier League season.

Brendan Rodgers' troops fell just short of a Champions League qualification spot having missed out on the top-four on the final day of the season for the second successive campaign.

Yet the Foxes do have their FA Cup winners medal to show for another impressive showing, as they continue to mix it with the so-called 'Big Six'.

Nonetheless, the lack of Champions League football could pose a threat for the club when it comes to keeping their most-prized assets.

Now Belgian outlet Voetbal24 claim Tielemans 'is already looking forward to making the switch to Anfield'.

The report even goes as far as saying that a deal could be completed quickly.

A figure of £64million (€75m) is also quoted while it's claimed Jurgen Klopp has decided he would prefer Tielemans over Renato Sanches.

So the Mail story is just this one - 5 days later ?

The funny thing is, he is absolutely nothing like Wijnaldum….. so it literally makes no sense for Liverpool to sign him. Unless they’re binning Thiago and signing two players to replace the CM entirely?

It’s just nonsense talk, he’s not going anywhere.

Think he will agree a new improved contract but only if he is given some assurances he can get a big move in the next 18-24 months

Not having the best of Euro tournaments has helped us a little in avoiding more clubs coming in for him.

I'd be very happy if we can get another 2 seasons out of him, especially with the quality of squad we are building in this window

He's on holiday probably laughing at all these reports. Romano is very very credible and he says the truth. We have offered him a contract, Liverpool want him, he's on holiday. Simple as that. What will be will be. If we sell Youri and Maddison for a combined 140m or so that would be incredibly good business. Spend about half that back on the team and give Dewsbury Hall Youris shirt, go for Coutinho and West Broms Pereira. I mean Kabak for about 12m is just great business, experience of the league now after being with Liverpool, very young still, we are well run and I trust us tk get it right. If he wants to go **** him, same as Maddison, don't want layers here who are looking elsewhere.

Well you don't know he's not going do you, no one does. And he's not too dissimilar to Wijnaldum, he's fairly box to box, he'd play the same position.

Valid point. It has certainly done for Arsenal.

Liverpool won’t pay what we will want atm, it’s a non story. Suspect he will sign a short extension for big wages then leave next summer for big money and even bigger wages.

I didnt think YT was going to make a decision until after his break ,these are just rumours ,let's see what Leicester offer him ,and then YT will make a decision,

The recent story is basically the same one from the Belgian news outlet, which has been regurgitated by several different organisations. So, no new news really.

If YT has expressed a desire to leave then it’s the beginning of the end really. Just as it was when Maguire decided he wanted to go to Man Utd.

That (the Maguire) one ran and ran for the whole window until being completed. We out-lasted them on the fee, but left little time to find a replacement - and we failed despite several bids. Fortunately, on that occasion, Caglar stepped up.
