Mendy was the replacement for Kante wasn’t he? Not sure how much impact he has on the team throughout the 90. Vards has one season left, maybe two if managed carefully. That'll mean less time on the pitch. We need someone on the pitch who will not put up with anyone not pulling their weight or are too weak to stand up when things are not going our way. This will mean perhaps one of our favourites needs to be released for that player to come in. Just going back to the Villa first leg cup game and you see Grealish come across to the touchline to speak to his manager and apparently instruct his manager to remove a player as he was not performing. If I recall, it was to remove a player who had come on as a substitute, only to be replaced by another substitute. I believe they sent him out on loan after that. Just a simple no nonsense central defender with experienced, wise head would do, yes we have Evans but we lose so much when he isn't present and he's probably not going to be about for alot longer. Bptiger Posted 1 June 2021 Share Posted 1 June 2021 Yes YOURI did go missing during a few games , he started some great then ran out of steam towards the end , but this was not his fault alone , the poor bloke played nearly every game , the manager and the club have to except most of the blame, there was no one else there to play in his role . Again it came down to a small playing group and NOT bringing in players in the last window , if the club had done that Iam sure we would have finished in the top four .
