Didn’t Vardy have a clause to always be the highest earner? Pretty sure that’s why he got the latest hike when we increased JM’s wage

So His wage will now go from £150k pw to £181k pw stay top earner everyone’s happy not breaking the bank much more !

So he is signing a new contract or what? What’s the hold up? If he doesn’t extend we’ll try to cash in during the New Year. He’ll have a year left after this season.

Doubt we cash in during the season, we would still get a decent price in the summer.

I'm not surprised he looks trim, he's played about a million games in the last year, with a grand total of about 3 weeks off since last may

I think this is the key reason behind the Soumare transfer. Someone who can give Youri a rest without us having someone who can dictate the passing game in the centre of the park.

Kristof Terreur on Romano's podcast just now doesn't think anyone will come in for Youri this summer but is in no rush to sign his new contract so could drag on for a while.

Probably wants to see how we get on over the next few months ….we don’t do release clauses and we don’t do gentleman’s agreements! He wouldn’t want to be ‘stuck’ here whilst we ask for a fee no one will pay and we drop to settled mid table …..

Deffo no gentleman's agreements, everything is buttoned down in a Fax.

Maguire had a gentlemens agreement, Mahrez claimed he had one as well

You can see why a gentlemens agreement might exist. It can be in both player's and club's interest. But these sorts of things are obviously open to interpretation; player says 'you said I could leave', club says 'yes but we didn't say when' etc etc etc.

Probs the worst scenario for us.

If he don’t sign now it would of been better if someone came in for him and for us to sell and make some decent money.

Leave it any longer and he gets offered a even better than better wage at another club and they certainly will be a big line of clubs wanting to sign him as he will be available for like £25m being in the last year of his contract n all.

Glad you don’t negotiate anything for me. Jesus.

He would still be worth more them 25m in his last year.

Saints just got 30m for Ings in his last year!

Probably get our money back next summer. It’s clear as day he’s not really wanting to stick around long term. So we either get him to sign a contract with releases, or an extra year max.

He’s keeping himself in a strong position to get a move to one of the big clubs.

I never thought he would come on loan from Monaco in the first place, I was even more surprised to see him sign a perm deal. So if we manage to keep hold of him for 3 and a bit seasons I'm happy with that.

If we get our 40m back even better.

£40m with a year left of his deal would be fine. He's helped us move to another echelon than he first came in on loan. We may think he's irreplaceable - and he's part of our folklore now after that stunner at Wembley - but it's partly down to him that we may be able to attract players who are at his level or who have the potential to be as good or better than him. A Leicester legend whatever happens now.
