Stadium Expansion update July 2021

Literally won’t hear any moaning on this. Much needed and a huge investment in the club and area.

40k is prudent and smart. What if crowds change post covid? What if we have a few bad seasons? We’ve just created the best training ground in Europe and but for a right winger have plugged seriously needed areas of the squad.

The club of course can always do better but if you’re complaining about any aspect of this then give your head a wobble!

I'm sure when it's all done and dusted they'll still be plenty to moan about in fact more as they'll be more stuff available to find fault with.

If there is to be a proper public consultation and this, you would hope, would include fans, then maybe now is the time to push for rail seating.

Disappointed with number, I think an extra 7500 seats will sell out and there'll still be people left wanting a season ticket, we should have put in plans for at least 45000 capacity imo

If we're looking at it from a simple supply and demand point of view (there will be a number of different and complex reasons as to why the expansion is "only" 7500 seats) then it's a simple marketing technique. If supply outweighs demand then interest soon wanes.

If demand outweighs supply then it creates a rush for the product and interest remains high.

If we plonk another 20,000 seats in then there's nothing to suggest we'd actually fill it. Sure, there's a waiting list for season tickets, but is there really 20,000 people on it? Or even 10,000?

I think, personally, even with just the extra 7500 extra seats, we'll see an initial rush for seats, and then getting yourself a ticket will become easier. The only way we need more than 40,000 as it stands is if we become a real and integral part of the "big 6"

Even if the plan was 50,000, they'd have to do it in stages or close the stadium down for a season or two. My guess (i.e. BS speculation) is that the club has an idea of expanding the stadium more further down the road, and the costs won't be that much more than if they announced a three-stage expansion plan at the get go.

Absolutely. Knowing our owners they won’t half arse this. It’ll be a first stage type thing.

People would be fuming if our attendances drop for 2 seasons while they whack on another 20k. It also makes zero commercial sense while we’re in Europe.

25% increase isn't small.

Nothing annoys me more than using percentages to justify the size of an increase lol its what bosses do when they give you a small pay rise .

Seriously though it is small when we could fill 48k in the Prem easily.

But it’s sensible to do it in stages and probably means less disruption/capacity decrease.

Cannot wait to see it! Will add a little excitement each gameday to see it developing. Gut feeling is a few thousand more might have been ideal, but can't complain. Such happy times for lcfc. Hope there's a Vichai and 2016 commemoration somewhere

...surely you would not be looking to expand twice!!!

Do it right and future proof it, but not having to bring equipment in twice as opposed to having structures in place to expand if necessary.

I wonder if the roads around the ground will be altered or a flyover added, to take traffic away to the motorway, to prevent any serious impact on the local community.

Who are the local community now? Are we talking about those that live on Burnmoor Street and surrounding roads? Surely there not that many that will be directly affected?

I think we could fill 48K against Man United but would will fill it against Palace/Brentford/Burnley?

That's a shame because I'm sure there's many who would have attended his Around Britain Talks on.....

11 foolproof ways to actually get over your ex

It's probably one of the hardest things about dating…breakups and ending all contact, thought and obsession over the ex. At times, it feels like you may never stop thinking about them. Even worse, you start obsessing over the life they may be living without you, who they may be dating now and whether you'll ever get back together. Here's what to do if this sounds like you.

1. Get off social media for a bit.

Social media has made it harder for women to stop obsessing over a partner, so the first thing Toni Coleman, a psychotherapist and relationship coach, recommends is to unfriend someone, at least until you are over them, or make commitment not to check their page. "In addition, you will need to be careful of the pages/posts of mutual friends where you can see pictures and hear things about the ex and possibly the new person they are dating."

2. Get rid of ex reminders.

These can be small, inexpensive gifts and mementos, cards and letters, even clothing that once belonged to the ex should be purged. "These are all reminders that can trigger strong emotions and memories that lead to obsession," says Coleman.

3. Resist the temptation to stage run-ins.

"Accidentally" running into your ex might be tempting, but it's best to avoid. Netflix
I know this may sound rather elementary, but this one is important. "The very best way [to move on] is to eliminate all forms of contact, including meeting in person," says Dr. Gary Brown, a relationship expert. That means not planning a run-in at your local coffee shop or gym. Rearrange your schedule if you need to.

4. Visualize your future (without them).

In other words, imagine how good your life will be when you have finished grieving the loss of your ex. "The more details you can flesh out, the better your chances of bringing your new vision to life," says Brown. Make a vision board of what you want for your future if it helps.

5. Don't contact them. Seriously.

Think about it — when has calling an ex resulted in anything good? Shutterstock
This is a big one. Initiate a no-contact rule until you have done your grieving and moved on to a place of acceptance that it is over. "As long as you can rationalize there is even a glimmer of hope that your ex still has feelings, has concern for how you are doing or wants to hear about what is going on in your life, you will not be able to break the cycle of obsession," says Coleman.

6. Get support from friends.

There is nothing wrong with asking your friends to encourage you to stop talking to or about your ex. "Instead, ask them to encourage you to lick your wounds and take steps to move on with your life," says Brown.

7. Plan a vacation.

If you can, you might as well pull an "Eat Pray Love." Sony Pictures
When you go through an intense breakup, it can feel like where you live is a standing reminder of the relationship you lost, explains Amica Graber, a resident relationship expert for TruthFinder. "Sometimes the best way to break out of a rut is to try something dramatically different. Take that vacation you've always dreamed of. Invite your best girlfriends — or better yet, go solo. There is nothing more liberating than traveling alone, and you'll remember how great being single can feel."

8. Move or redecorate.

Moving might be emotional, but it'll pay off in the end. 20th Century Fox Television
If you shared your living space with the ex, it's going to be hard to move on when everything in your home reminds you of them, says Graber. "Consider moving to a new area of your town to get a fresh start if your lease is nearly up. At the very least, move around some furniture and repaint the walls."

9. Start dating again.

Get on a dating app and start dating again. "You might not enjoy it at first. Perhaps you won't be able to stop thinking about your ex on a few inevitable bad dates. But make dating again a habit. As the saying goes, you fake it 'til you make it," says Graber. At the very least, dating apps can help preoccupy you while your heart continues to heal.

10. Get professional support.

Talking to a therapist might help you a lot. HBO
If it's been months and you're still obsessing to the point that you're having a difficult time functioning socially, at home, at work and perhaps in school, it may be time to see a therapist, suggests Brown. There is nothing wrong with seeking professional help. All that matters is that you stop obsessing over your ex.

11. Do things for yourself.

Maybe "taking care of yourself" means taking lots and lots of bubble baths. Paramount Pictures
While you might feel like your world has ended and you'll never get over your ex, you will. Graber recommends writing a bucket list of everything you want to do before you settle down and start doing them. She also notes, "Most people get married multiple times, experience multiple relationships and fall in love over and over again. The world hasn't ended because your relationship did."

I think the demand is there, even if we aren't an integral part of the Big 6. My kids primary school is now 90 percent LCFC shirts, but only a few go to games. Other parents tell me they are "surprised" I got tickets -- they are convinced it's impossible.

The club doesn't really have to try and sell tickets to league games, and won't put a lot of effort into that aspect just to sell the odd few not being sold for Burnley.

If they expanded to 48k and put the effort in to selling tickets (advertising, school promotions, etc.), they would fill the stadium most weeks.

That being said, I understand the go slow approach.

Worse: Can you imagine us winning the Europa League and getting CL just as they close the stadium for a full scale expansion? We'd be hosting Real Madrid at Welford Road!

We could announce we had found a cure for covid, cancer and how to clone Youri and some fans would find something to complain about lol

All good stuff and more business savvy moves with the hotel and arena etc, in short we are just massive.

40k is right considering we don't sell out now. It's easy to get a ticket for the vast majority of games if you truly want to go.

The key phrase here is "a ticket." It is not easy to get four tickets next to each other on general sell, and fairly impossible for a group of 8-10 people (two families) to go to a match.

A team full of Youri's won't solve our need for a right winger.
