Wycombe Pre Season Match Thread (Delayed 15 mins)

Recommended Posts

Shouldn't look too much into that really lots of different players and everyone half paced. However, the last few seasons including when we won title we have performed well in pre season and some players have started with confidence. It would be good to have some positive performances in build up and maybe some creativity would be nice.

I get that Pre Season doesn't usually mean too much, but you have to worry with the lack of threat in both games thus far.

Problem is there are no signs of any threat whatsoever. With the talent, experience, superior technique our players have even in a pre-season friendly we should win easily against League1 teams. Something is not working ? The training games should have revealed by now what is the best eleven, so why are we playing ineffective two teams in each game ?

Because it’s not about performance, it’s about getting match fitness into the legs …..

I gather he is in line for some minutes on Saturday, then again vs Villareal and will feature in the Community Shield. Whether that then means he's ready for the opener I'm not sure. Could well see us start the season with a midfield diamond if not whilst we wait.

Our first league opponents Wolves have Trincao, Neto, Podence and Traoré as wide options. By contrast, we have an unlikely to be fit Barnes, backed up by Sharky, Perez and a bunch of unproven kids. Given all this, the lack of concrete links to wingers is positively puzzling. Let's hope Rudders is working undercover on a star purchase as we are desperate for a quality winger.

Neto is injured for ages isn't he? Traore was an absolute disgrace last season, never seen Podence do anything. Trincao is likely to be good for them though.

In that case why did they not start pre season earlier ?

I imagine because of last seasons schedule and the Euro’s. It’s a tough call because last season was so heavy…. The gap between the project restart and then the following season wasn’t sufficient time to rest. The lads needed a break.

To be honest I can’t see anyone coming back all guns blazing. The first two months will be very topsy turvey, once we settle we will go too and won’t drop off.

The lack of space we are able to create is a concern and there is very little penetration.

We didn't really see any progression from the Burton game.

However, we have new and young players adapting and completely changing the team after 45mins makes it more difficult to find a rhythm.

Soumare looks great. Daka is going to need more time by the looks of things.

And that's why he needs to go. He's a loose cannon. A red card waiting to happen.

...very much something that needs to be taken out of his game!!!

Why has his coaches not stamped it out. He himself needs the self discipline to not make that challenge but his coaching has obviously not been good enough. He really needs to stay on his feet, he is strong enough to compete and quick enough to hold up a player to buy time for additional support, he has to take responsibility for how his game has developed and if he cannot be instructed by the staff then he has to do it himself.

It has been a wasted few years for him at the club, as it seems he has learned nothing. He needs to ask himself questions and then look to find the answers quickly.

Brendan had to wait for his holiday destination to go green ………

 Not really

we started a week behind some others. Given we have a pretty competitive game a week ahead of the season start you’d think we might have gone earlier, yes.

But we did know we have a Community Shield game before the season starts

We were just as bad last pre-season, loads of players barely featured in many friendlies, people were going wild on here and we'd made just one signing in Castagne. We then won the 1st 3 games scoring 12 goals.
