My husband loved LCFC and needs your support 💙

My husband loved LCFC, he went all over the place to watch them and started many of chants when he was watching the games in the home and away stands. He would often come home with destroyed vocal chords. City was everything to him. 

However, I recently lost my husband through a gambling addiction. He was a happy man but was sucked into a hole after being given 'free bets' which ultimately cost him his life. I have made a video that explains more here.

football is awash with money from gambling and it's all wrong. I would be personally gutted if Leiceter ever had a gambling sponsor for the stadium or shirt. I know they have a "gambling partner" but I would like to see that gone too. 

 

Gambling always has, and always will exist, but the proliferation of advertising and the pushing and enticement is ridiculous. This has been discussed in the other thread on here :

All major sport is awash with money from the betting giants. The addicted gamblers are easy targets as are alcoholics and smokers, although there are restrictions on alcohol advertising and tobacco ads are completely banned. 

Until someone actually gets a real handle on the mental health issues and the damage gambling does to individuals and families, then I don't see any positive outcomes.

I absolutely detest the ads offering a number of free spins once you sign up. I imagine the sign up process involves giving your e-mail address and then you'll get pressured via email.

My Dad RIP (who worked at the City 66-94) gambled all his adult life, mainly horses and three card brag for big money. My Mum left home half a dozen times, but because of the three kids, always came back. Between the ages of 5 and 15, I don’t think a week went by without them having a massive row over money. Having said this there was always food on the table and we never felt we went without. 
 

My Dad was a great bloke but had this addiction / compulsion at a time when it wasn’t particularly recognised. I saw at first hand the unhappiness gambling can cause, it certainly affected my upbringing and I made a promise to my mum never to go into a bookies in my life. (I have been in once with a friend who was actually collecting his winnings.)

 

Obviously, my Dad was pre-internet and the constant enticements to gamble you see these days. Heavens knows how he would have resisted the constant onslaught from the many betting companies today.

 

Such a tragic story Lukeslaw, hope your petition is a success. I’ve asked for updates from UK Gov.

One Good hard Counter-Balance to these gambling-sites...

 Look also at the celebrities, Let them know your Feelings/discontent/shame on their individual  sites who Voice or Act on Betting-ads.

 

To me its Gangster-tactics & racket, hiding behind rights to open markets ...

 

Since I Left school, from Slot m/cs,, the horses/dogs, stud/poker tables, modern Football & sport...

I have seen, friends,aquaintences,strangeres succombe to some uncharacteristics traits,Desperate urges and self-denial daily  wonky routine or paths..

Though a majority of  Happy pastime disciplined punters, Enjoy having that punt,

it just takes a small Minority of weaker characters,to Ruin a large Minority of Family lifes..but make millions for the modern too many gambling OTT businesses..

 

Its a question where One draws the line... 

Whos Knocking at the door, whos ringing the bell lottery, state lottery,Football-pools , fair-grounds or casinos,buy 3 get 1 free

Sports various Melting-pots of bets, the stock-exchange, hiding behind investments.

The World Economies have crashed several times due to Stock-brokers taking a punt..

 

Enticement exsists as a word, because in  Peoples-character most seem to want to run with their punts & urges...

I get bombarded with free bets,told I have just won,this or that..falsley Enticed by banks,insurance, A.N.OTHER businesses,to Take a once on a lifetime-offer,

over Internet sites, who still get behind my ad-blockers..Forcing me to do 100s of total irrelevant deletes,and

on every PC/Tablette sign-in, und nothing to do with sites I am logging into... Thats like going into bakery, und before One reaches the Counter 3 Metres away,

Get accosted and Interrupted by a Thousands of salesman, before I can purchase,or just to look at the relevant wares, I  fking originally  went in for..!!

Crude, clandestine over enthusiastic businesses abound in our world...I want to Clock somebody, but again where do we join the line....

 

I have always Sympathy when People put themselves into stressfull, no-way-out situations, this Story is another tragedy,I hate the Type of mentality of These

People these  coniving Sale tactics....

but to fight it, I can only Think of shaming,also the middleman,and the messengers with bombarding-tactics...

If a punter goes into an auction, und comes out with a £ 10,000 painting he nor his Family ever wanted,

or could even  afford because the Auctioneer was pushy & enticing,

Who is to blame & who is morally right or wrong...??
