....he is a lot better than a League one player!!!

Some players on loan try to fit in and adjust their game to the players around them, it is a way to fit in, but it stifles their ability to progress their game. KDH did not play on loan like he did with the U23s and has excelled at his time away from us.

He needs to stop thinking of himself as an U23 on loan but a professional player and adopt a professional attitude.

How do you know that his attitude is the issue?

...because he has the talent, he just need to apply it to his game!!!

If he maintains his form, a permanent move to Portsmouth could kick start his career. I have always supported George but he is most unlikely now to make it with us

surprised Leshabela hasn't been recalled yet

...rarely getting game time, you would think he would be excelling in this division!!!

It really comes down to how the player sees his situation and surroundings that he now finds himself. You either look at this as where your career starts or go through the motions and wait to come back and prove yourself in your own backyard.

It is hard to understand why he us struggling, but he has to realise he is being judged on the loan and the club is getting feedback on his application. For me, he can cut it at Premier League level, but he has to believe that as well.

Isn't Callum Wright's contract up this summer? We really need to be trying to get that renewed and get him in to the Championship next season, feels very much like a KDH type progression and at the very least we'd get £4-5m for him if he does well in the Championship.

Yes it is.

You like to think we could make some money on him if he's resigns.

Wonder if we have a extension clause in his contract like we did for Knight.

One of the way can improve our income is do follow Chelsea's example and see the Academy is a income stream as well as a way of producing talent for the first team.

And this conveyor belt works once you get it going and we are slowly doing that by getting players out on loan quicker and players stepping up through the age groups quicker. Our injury problems also help give them 1st team exposure which helps further the notion that we are a club to be at and lower league clubs will be more interested in loaning those players too. It's then easier to keep it going and the reputation does it for us.

This year felt like a bit of a break through year for the academy in that regard. We reportedly brought in £9.5mil from the 3 highest profile fee-paid academy exits with Sowah (£8mil), Knight (£1mil) and Muskwe (£500k) all going to Championship level and above. That's a decent chunk to offset against summer transfers and good level of football for the players.

Couple that up with KDH and Thomas really kicking on in the first team as regulars, and some of the loanees and first team cameos really impressing and showing progression, it all looks very positive right now. That's not even counting Barnes and Hamza 'Maldini' Choudhury.

Standard practice now to include a 1 year extension option in the clubs favour if they wish to extend the contract....almost certain this will be the case with Wright and almost certain the club will take it unless they choose to sell at the right price.  Exact same situation as Josh Knight....signed the extension and then sold to Posh for £1m
