He’s basing his assessment on a double tibula/fibula fracture, which it doesn’t look like this is

Your assessment was spot on. Should make recovery less problematic. We all hope so anyway.

The good news is that, unlike the general public, Wesley Fofana is going to have access to world class medical facilities and physiotherapist, that will enhance his rehabilitation and get him back up to speed.

As many have said, the break isn’t the issue really, as that’ll heal fairly quickly. It’s the ankle ligament damage and how that heals.

And the phycological battle that ensues after such a terrible injury... that will be the biggest hurdle to getting back to his previous level 😥

Was that challenge in a friendly or a league cup game ?

Friendly that we lost 2-1 if I remember rightly. Luckily the Burton player was alright and Shakespeare did the decent thing and took Benalouane off immediately.

I slid down the middle of the escalator on the tube at Oxford Circus pissed up for a laugh after Knockaert scored the winner at home to Wolves in 2012/13. Shattered my coccyx and couldn't sit down for 6 months.

If Fofana is back inside that then its a miracle.

Not quite as good as your ACL anecdote but right up there. That still makes me giggle although I appreciate it wasn't funny for you....

Geoff Capes. 🤣🤣🤣

lequipe says Fofana will be out for 3-5 months, in theory could be back to fitness in January.

Angered by Wesley Fofana stepping on his ankle, Spain's Fer Nino took his revenge in a totally disproportionate manner during the friendly match between Leicester and Villarreal

Is that based on inside knowledge, though, or just guesswork on their part based on how long this kind of injury usually takes to heal?

The latter I suspect. They acknowledge they don't have the full info and that there are scans yet to be done for a precise diagnosis.

Love his attitude. He will be back stronger than ever.

Going to be hard from him, being away from home as well, not sure if he has anyone over with him.

He'll probably be able to do some of his rehab at home, the initial stage anyway. That's if he wants to, he might prefer to be in the Leicestershire countryside. His mate Soumaré will be around.

His girlfriend is with him, and he is very close with Suengchittawon who can keep him company in the physio room for a few weeks.

They might be in communication with the player or his people though.

Indeed they might. In fact, probably are, but nobody knows the prognosis at this stage, not until further tests etc.  The article reads a little ambiguously (to me at least) as to whether there'll be an operation this weekend or that's just when further tests will take place but, either way, the picture isn't yet clear. It does read, at this stage, positively though (under the circumstances)

Absolutely gutted for the young man. It's bad enough when any player picks up an injury during a game, but to have it happen  in a meaning less game is just awful.

the Villareal player needs to be sanctioned by Eufa. Otherwise there's no justice.

Let's hope he makes a full recovery and gets back to his best.

Surprised there has been no reaction from the Premier League or Uefa, if it had happened to a player in from a top elite club or done from by a player from the Premier League there would be so much fuss by the authorities, the Villarreal player Nino needs to brought in of a panel and banned for a season.

It's a friendly, outside of their competitions why would they have jurisdiction?

Brought in front of a firing squad is more preferable!!

Just a an aside, does he actually  have to leave his leg at right angles for a few days til the club choose the right surgeon and procedure?

Or does some junior nigtshift doctor at the infirmary yank it into place?
