I've seen the €800k a week reported as well , not sure how true it is but that's proper batshit mental.

Just purely as a negotiating tactic then Griezmann accepts far less that that, he's a world class player but not truly elite and if Barcelona can't agree a salary with him no one else would. €800k a week is the sort of money a once in a generational type player would demand. Griezmann is a country mile and more away from that.

Chickens have come home to roost for Barcelona, spending money like it was irrelevant.

It seems like Barca completely lost touch with reality at some point. It will be interesting to see whether they can worm their way out of this.

What's the best they can hope for? I'm guessing someone might take Griezmann on loan and pay a small fraction of his wages.

The Griezmann signing might be the single most ridiculous of the lot. Even more embarrassing when Atletico went on to win the league and Suarez went the other way for a pittance. Griezmann has never really fit. Pure signing for the sake of a signing. Sums what they've become up.

Laporta is talking now, and it’s pretty clear it’s not going to be reversed, Messi is gone, and the club is still in financial trouble regardless.

He said the finances were much worse than he was shown before he took over and following an audit they see they have no choice, the risk is too high and financial situation is dire.

Last person on this planet I'd believe is Laporte

126k euros a week on Dest is genuinely laughable.

400k per week on De Jong and 126k per week on Dest is frightening. They signed both of those players from Ajax. I refuse to believe that it was impossible to agree a smaller salary jump from their presumed Ajax wage to that.

And as for Griezmann, 800k per week is farcical.

Any ideas what Söyüncü is like as a right sided CB, with Lenglet being left footed?

Don’t remember seeing him there. Think he’s played centrally in a back 3 and actually preferred him there, than as LCB in a 3 where he seems to get lost positionally sometimes.

The craziest thing about the financial situation Barcelona find themselves in is the fact they’ve paid those wages like they are some two-bit oil sponsored club with no history. If you asked virtually any footballer if they would like to play for Barcelona the answer is most likely to be a massive yes. So why have they been splurging money when in reality they wouldn’t have to? If they didn’t pay Messi €1 million a week who else would?!?

I was thinking this about the wage that’s reported to have been given to Grealish (£360,000+). Why would Man City pay that when he’d surely have gone for £200,000?

They should give Man City a ring, they've been getting away with it for years!

It's funny you should mention that, reading these comments about Barcelona in trouble makes me wonder if in a few years time we'll see the likes of PSG and Man City declining and having to sell star players.

I vaguely remember it happening to that Russian side that almost went bankrupt.

No a chance any of the clubs mentioned get him in my view, regular for Barca, who has played 39 CL games.

Scores goals too.

Can only see him going to a CL club.

He played for Sevilla against us - he was rubbish then.

14. Arthur - signed from Juve last season, not coming here

15. Neto - we don't need

16. Semedo - at Wolves now

17. Lenglet - yes please

18. Alena - high potential, no room in the squad for another midfielder

19. Firpo - Not needed, Thomas and Bertrand with JJ coming back

20. Todibo - think he's gone Marseille? (might be wrong)

21. Fati - no chance, him and Pedri are the future

22. Inaki Pena - no idea who he is but don't need another keeper

23. Wague - linked before but not needed

Firpo is at Leeds now.

I don’t watch them, but based on reading their fans stuff sometimes, there is certainly at least an element of their support who think he is trash and needs to go. But it’s Barca, they will have very high standards. The same fans also think Dembele and Coutinho are terrible, for example.

Tielemans was washed up when he came to us as well. I'd be open to it.

Massive over exaggeration tbh. He's a kid ffs how was he washed up, he'd just dipped a bit adjusting to a new club at a young age.

This would have to be a loan, think about it. You really think we're going to sign Lenglet on a permanent deal and then have 2 of Fofana, Soyuncu, Evans or Lenglet not in the team when all fit?

We still have the same issue if he is loaned. Assuming they are all fit at some point during the coming season.
