Jannik Vestergaard

Recommended Posts

He's probably not a centre half we would have targeted pre season, but we can't take the risk with a European player who may take time to adjust. We need someone who can hit the ground running, that's why I think Vestegaard, Tarkowski and to a lesser extent Cahill are the front runners. Any of these could step in a play to the required standard from day one. There may be better options from the continent, but it's probably too much of a gamble and risk to expect them to adjust instantly. Kabak might be the exception having played in the PL  last season.

All due respect to Saints but slotting into our team with the quality he would have around him is different gravy. His ability in the air would also strengthen one of our key weaknesses - the set piece at both ends of the field. Our recruitment team have targeted him before so this wouldn't be a shot in the dark. Would have been a good signing before Fofana's injury. Now, it's a no brainer.

Bertrand I can understand but it’s a bit strange to be after another defender from a team who hold records of two 9-0 defeats.

Bertrand was sent off after 12 minutes against us

Vestergaard didn’t play against Man Utd

Also you cannot really hold anything against them as Southampton had 2 players sent off against Man Utd, with Jankewitz going off after 2 minutes.

I don't like this continual reference to beating Saints 9 - 0. It was great on the evening, but if, and it could, happen to us, I bet we'd be totally p1ssed off it was mentioned all of the time. All teams suffer heavy defeats from time to time, but on both occasions there were extenuating circumstances as to why Southampton lost heavily. It doesn't make their players unworthy of playing for Leicester.

As I remember they totally outplayed us at the King power.

1. It will never happen to us. Not whilst BR is in charge anyway.

2. Why can’t we enjoy it? We might as well not be Leicester fans if we can’t enjoy the good times. I was there that night and I rewatch the goals all the time because it was amazing. Life is too miserable to not enjoy the good times.

I think Ralph is more to blame for those defeats. Ask the saints fans, they point the finger at him.

Dangerous to suggest it will never happen. I bet Man U never thought they would lose 6 - 1 at home to Spurs.

It was two years ago, you don't need to continually being smug about it. I enjoyed the result as much as anyone and still enjoy watching the highlights when I feel fit, but in the same way I hate people reminding me of Deeney day, I don't need to continual remind Southampton fans that we beat them 9 - 0 and that their defence must be sh1t.

I’m not smug about it. I wouldn’t walk up to a saints fan in the street and start singing about winning 9-0. I can quietly enjoy it in the comfort of my own home like any Leicester fan would and should. As for the deeney thing, it doesn’t bother me and shouldn’t bother you. That moment led to us winning the championship, staying in the prem, winning the prem and now being an established top 6 side.

Vestergaard is "an oven-ready deal "  (don't expect him to get roasted though!)

We've tracked him, know about him, current premier league experience, he slots in with the minimum of acclimatisation..

.

Another Robert Huth?........ and we know what happened next.

Let's bring home the bacon!

I don't get the comparisons in the 0-9 win we had at theirs. It was truly miserable rainy weather. Bertrand practically played no part and was a massive loss to them as a key component of their back line. We were just on our game that day and the slick wet pitch would've only have benefitted us and not them.

Vestergaard has great composure on the ball, something that's a necessity if he comes to us, great in the air, set piece taker and scorer and looks mean too. What more could we ask for...
