Patson Daka

Genuinely think this is Enzo's hardest managerial decision to date.

I never wish injury or unavailability on a player but it would make the decision easier for him if one of Vardy or Iheanacho were injured for several weeks.

Cannon needs minutes too, we don't want to be going in to January where he hasn't played much. I'd sit Iheanacho out for a few games now from the squad, regardless of whether he's available again soon.

Someone posted an article by Blackwell saying that this is very unlikely to be Daka's chance of a renaissance under Maresca and that he'll be back down the pecking order once Nacho and Vardy are fit and indeed he's off in January.

Hopefully he's wrong but to state that so definitively you do wonder if that's what he's being fed by the club.  Could be pure conjecture of course

If so, then it's a risky move by Enzo. If Daka scores again tomorrow and then gets dropped on Monday he'll cause unnecessary pressure on his decision making.

I honestly don't see why Daka is down the pecking order. Enzo has proven with Coady that performances dictate being picked on merit and Conor is missing out through no fault of his own. I'd hope Daka is given a few more games and not continue a preconceived idea on him.

I agree entirely, Nacho has not done enough to be nailed on first choice and Vardy is in the twilight of his career.

Be an interesting insight into how flexible Maresca is with regards personnel.

Unless of course the club have told him they want Daka off the books asap so he doesn't see any point integrating him except where absolutely necessary through injuries.

Yeah agreed. If the club are desperate for money, it would be bizarre to prioritise moving on a player such as Daka which at best will be a loan with an option to buy and let Ndidi, Iheanacho and Praet run their contracts down.

Can only assume Daka has made it clear he wants to leave. There'd be no other reason for it.

I'm sure I've also heard Owyn Palmer-Atkin (or somebody else on RL) state with some certainty that Daka would be off in January. It does seem like that's the line being fed by the club to local journalists.

I think everyone could have happily bet on Daka leaving in January, but circumstances can always change. We probably would have put Vestegaard in the same category when Enzo first arrived.

It's simple, Daka has his chance now and has to take it to a level where he can't be moved. Saturdays performance gives him the shirt for Wednesday and if he can keep that up until AFCON, we would be crazy to ship him out in January with Kelechi and Vardy likely to leave in the summer for nothing.

Can't blame him, it's been a nightmare in regards to his progression

He wasn't on his own by a long way under Rodgers. However, allegedly certain of them supposedly changed their mind when encountering Maresca and have proved their worth like Vestergaard, Ndidi and Choudhury. Daka, after his initial escape plan, which for me was completely understandable, is likely to get his chance now to see if he can adapt to Maresca's system. I sincerely wish him well and still think there's a player in there. Fingers crossed 🤞

Far from the sole reason we are struggling today but honestly he is one of the worst players I've ever seen in Leicester blue. He plays like an 18 year old fresh out the academy. What the managers see in him I don't know.

Aged well.

Probably the two goals and an assist in like 100 minutes of football this year helps but idk man I'm not an expert like you.

A tap in on the goal line changes nothing, he is woefully technically deficient for a player leading the line in this system. The only thing going in his favour is he * may * be a confidence player

I said it in the other Daka thread but will repeat myself in here , Vardy and Kel both being out might have done us a huge favour as both have been hit and miss Daka has got two in two where he probably wouldn’t have been getting a game and Cannon has been getting minutes which he needs .

errrr......have you seen how Vardy and Nacho have been this season, for me hes done just as well as they have, if not better. his hold up play has been as good as vardy's and nacho's passing too for the most part

so your clutching at straws thinking hes woeful

Not just a tap in goal though is it? I love Vardy as much as the next man, but he's not making those runs at the moment.

This is a ridiculous exaggeration, especially after a game when we completely dominated possession and he was extremely tidy with the ball. In fact, he wasn’t dispossessed once and only misplayed one pass.

We need a striker who creates space, draws defenders out of position, helps us overload key areas, and can quickly break past the lines. Daka is showing he can do all of that in this division.

I’ve not previously been much of a Daka fan, but Vardy’s declining powers and an out of form Nacho have opened the door for him.

I hope he can keep scoring and contributing and make the spot his own. Vestergaard has already proven my judgment wrong this season so I’m not precious about somebody else doing the same
