Health official questions if Leicester City v Napoli should be suspended

Reverse a fixture because their players gone somewhere that means they can’t come here is not a thing! It’s a disgrace if it’s moved and proves how corrupt uefa is. We wouldn’t be moaning to switch it had we cocked up like this. We’d go with what we have!

this is way more complex than you’re seeing it

Napoli should have taken steps to ensure that their players did not visit red list countries ten days ahead of arrival in the U.K.  zenit did this with their two Brazilians who they recalled after playing their first game - they play at Stamford bridge.

however, where two countries have different laws, it’s a problem. Uefa have been discussing this with govt because they consider it unfair that U.K. and the rest of Europe have different policies on elite sports exemptions. Napoli’s players should not have to miss playing for their country because of a law in the U.K.  players based in the U.K. have to because they live and work in the U.K. there is a massive difference.

Of course our fans would be moaning if it had been reversed! There’s literally no chance they wouldn’t be. Whether it would be right to is a different matter entirely!

Clubs based in red list countries playing in the European competitions will be a problem, the rest will be fine player wise.

But dont different countries have different RED lists?? Just adds to the confusion if UK has more red list countries than others...

I believe the EU has a red list all their countries follow. At least that was the case last year because I remember the UK being on it at one stage (and rightfully so)

Afaik, all Eu countries have exemptions for elite sportsmen

we don’t - that’s the problem

At this point i'm convinced that its Conservative ministers on a massive power/ego trip. If the EU didn't have exemptions you can bet we would.

Yes definitely wouldn't want it to happen just out of those two options that would be the best

Unfortunately when you visit any country for work or pleasure you have to abide by its laws, that is the way of the world.

Live here or visit makes no difference.

That’s not true of competition though is it .  Uefa wouldn’t allow a club to play in their competition if the law of their land meant certain nationalities weren’t allowed in.  this is really not an easy call.  I think that in the end our argument that these rules were set out and understood by other clubs playing here next week and that Napoli should have addressed this ahead of the break by ensuring those players didn’t go to red list countries 10 days ahead of arriving here will carry.

Not sure if the resolution of the Brazil issue has any bearing on Napoli’s moaning ……

That was FIFA bending over to allow some players that were kept back in the safety of their own countries. This would require our government to waive the quarantine of professional sports players which seems unlikely at this stage. It could further show how inconsistent this all is though and put more pressure on the game being moved.

They (UEFA) have had plenty of time to deal with this and have a plan in place, it not a surprise situation.

Like FIFA with the internationals they are reactive rather then pro-active.

We worked with the national teams to ensure our players didn't enter red list countries Daka, Soy missed games that were in red list countries and only played in game that were not.
