Brighton have always been a team Rodgers has been willing to play an experimental system or put an academy player in. Let's hope he does the same on Saturday as Braybrooke is the only progressive passer we have available waiting in the wings.

Won't be given a go as he has half a chance of doing well and it would go against the narrative Rodgers is trying to set about not being backed.

We've struggled at CM lately with KDH being out along with Praet and Ndidi working his way back to fitness but this lad aint got a sniff and he probably won't until the transfer window closes.

its just typical of the manager isnt it, he should of been given lots of playing time off the bench when we were on our winning run , not pitching him in a relegation battle , but we are so desperate for something to happen i personally think we have to give it a go

It just highlights another myth about Rodgers, in that 'He gives youth a chance'.

KDH and Thomas were forced into the side through injuries. Whereas Brunt and McAteer are basically just Rodgers promoting his false narrative about a lack of backing. Puel was far more willing to give youth a chance, he actively recalled Barnes to play him the second half of that season and gave Hamza his first proper chances here. Then you have his signings of Soyuncu, Benkovic, Maddison and Tielemans etc.

Rodgers complains about a 'Lack of Leaders' every window. But the truth is, we're not compatible with them, because he doesn't like to to take responsibility himself. Imagine having your players select their own Captain, it's ridiculous, and now we've got a Captain who not only doesn't/shouldn't play, but he's probably the quietest and weakest character in the side.

Agreed now the Sensi move has fallen through, Sammy is probably our next best alternative to Winks in that DCM position. Hopefully he can get fit and get some minutes towards the back end of the season. Would be good to hear an update either way…

Not forgetting pre-injury he has captained the England u18 & u19 teams, so the talent is there.

Winks (Braybrooke)

Ndidi (Praet)

KDH (Yunus)

We're going to be fine in Midfield tbf, for the res of this season

I think the worry is Ndidi is out for another 2 months and we lost Casadei for depth. One more injury (especially to KDH or Winks) and that is a terrible position.

Speaking about braybrooke as being available for first team duties any time soon is surely incorrect.

Has the kid even resumed training with the U21’s?

Look at alves - it’s months since he was back training and he’s had setbacks - it happens after serious injuries

If he hasn’t started proper training yet then I wouldn’t expect Sammi to manage any games this season other than a few cameos in the U21 April/may

Sammy Braybrooke

Had Sensi arrived, he likely would have been deputy to Harry Winks in the deeper midfield role too. Currently Hamza Choudhury has to play back-up to both Winks and to Ricardo Pereira in the hybrid full-back position.

But without Sensi, it opens a door for Braybrooke to potentially get a couple of games later in the season. He’s had a little setback in his recovery from an ACL tear and has now been out for a year, but he’s almost back in training and there is hope that he can play a part towards the end of the campaign.
