i've been doing this for over 50 years .....eg. you cant ask me to choose between weller and mahrez.  you cant ditch your childhood heroes but you also can't not choose one of the key components of the team that delivered your best moment in football .......

Not sure it would be a balanced team but who cares. I can’t believe I could not fit ‘The Yak’ or ‘The Rooster’ in but Nugent has such an infectious smile!

Great call :scarf:

Okay, so, how about 11 players and you can have a reserve team too… so 11 of your favourite players, and then 11 close seconds?

I feel so bad leaving Walsh out…. But I think Morgan winning the title is the difference maker. But Walsh I agree was an absolute legend. Some people have suggested to me in the past that Tony Adam’s was the ultimate captain in his day, Walsh for me is probably the best captain I personally have ever watched. He lead by example, and often popped up with huge goals.

                            GK. Flowers

                 5. Walsh    6. Elliott   4. Huth

2.Mills                                                        3. Guppy

                                 7. Kante

               8. Izzet                       10. Tielemans

                      9. Vardy     11. Wright

Special mentions for Kevin Poole, Fuchs, Wasyl, Lennon, Rooster and Iwan Roberts. Might also give a place on the bench to Mitty Of The City.

First person I seen mention Rooster Russell he’d definitely be one of my subs loved him

Been thinking about this an unhealthy amount since posting.

Happy with my selection but was hard to leave out Steve Thompson, Lloyd Dyer, Kevin Russell, Iwan Roberts, Scott Taylor and David Nugent.

They can have a place on my fictional bench.

                        Kasper

               Walsh, Elliott, Morgan

Lineker                                       Guppy

                           Kante

              Tielemans       Izzet

               Heskey  Collymore

Manager - MON

Sub: Vardy

Maybe, I'm a little swayed by that 5-2 demolition of Sunderland, but based on that team, we have the 3-5-2 formation with Collymore & Heskey up front - this is the chance to see them play together again.

Can't look past Kasper in goal

3 captains at the back would be brutal

Guppy on the left & Lineker has to get in, so can reprise his wing role from his Barcelona days...

Kante holding midfield with Tielemans & Izzet probing forwards

Not really sure its possible to leave Vardy out of the 11, but he'll come on with half an hour to go with game stretched...

GK - Wallington

RWB - Gary Mills

LWB - Guppy (With just 2 CB's a bit risky but hey...it's not real is it)

CB / Here there every*******where - Walshy

CB / Borderline Psychopath - Wasilewski

RW - Mahrez

AM - Macalister

CM - Cambiasso (player manager)

LW - Cunningham (I know Laurie Cunningham played more CF than LW for us, just loved watching him play, him on one flank, Mahrez on the other, wowzer, what a thought.)

CF - Lineker (Fruit seller by day, world cup top scorer by night, literally Roy Of The Rovers stuff). Now sells crisps.

CF - Rantanen (Had his debut delayed whilst they sourced shorts big enough for his ass...it gives us all a bit of hope doesn't it)

Sub 1 - Tielemans comes on in 5th minute when Rantanen tears shorts, leading to a rejig to a 4-3-3. A midfield of Macalister, Tielemans and Cambiasso, that's sheer porn.

Sub 2 - Gunlaugsson - Cracked me up, looked a bit like Ming from Flash Gordon, scored some screamers in his time though. Bring him on for Gary Mac just behind the CF's.

Sub 3 - Rooster Russell - Introducing both him and Gunlaugsson would be a very bold decision.

Sub 4 - OK OK,I know.... it's a friendly...Vardy on for Lineker, one legend who runs on to through balls and puts them away for fun replaces another, we are blessed.

Sub 5 - Did I mention the temporary abandonment of all substitution laws....Pontus Kaamark for Millsy

Sub 6 - Spider Man, Spider Man, Does Whatever a spider can, he is big, he is tall, he can't catch the f*****g Ball! Kalac comes on in final minutes in case it goes to penalties

Sub 7 -.......And whilst everyone's staring at him going "Why have we bought him on, who the **** is he, ooh isn't he tall" our other late sub Stevie Claridge shins in a winner!

Sub 8 - To see out the game Paul "Rambo" Ramsey on for Cambiasso, who else can point, shout and clap our way to victory like he can. Close call, Kante was OK but he can't match Rambo's passion.

Sub 9 - (Unused) And re-opening the recent "Why have two GK's on the bench" argument - Conrad Logan, not a fave but no bench would be complete without him.

A lot of love for Kaamark, which is nice to see. What a player he was.

Amazed at those who don't put Vardy in the team. I have nothing but love for that man. Not only is he one of the best characters / entertainers we've ever had he's also one one of our best ever players.
