Europa Conference League Draw & General Chat

Recommended Posts

Ffs, I’ve already been to the Phillips Stadium and the Olympico. 😂

Eindhoven is an alright city but nothing fantastic, the square in the centre of the town is pretty cool, loads of decent bars and food type places, and a Casino which I definitely didn’t go in 👀

Easter weekend follows the away leg so could be expensive. I m planning to be in Germany so may go early and train it from there

It’s over 3x the price compared to the week before. The first week would have been dirt cheap.

When you think we went donkeys years without a sniff of European competition I still enjoy the prospect of playing these different clubs from various countries. Particularly with teams like PSV with their pedigree

Game last night was a cracker and atmosphere looked great, real passion.

PSV rated 5th in the betting pre draw but still a 7/1 shot.

With a likely Roma in the SF we've probably been given a less than average draw but we are favourites for this competition.

Doing a massive disservice to Bodo/Glimt there. Especially considering they've already played Roma twice this season, winning 6-1 at home and drawing 2-2 in Italy.

Considering its the Johnstone's Paints Trophy etc. there are some real quality European names in it, so much for attracting/incentivising different countries teams.

I think people are a bit down on it, personally. Ok it’s third tear European football but with the kind of names in it and the fact it guarantees a Europa League place it makes it worth while.

Very tough draw. They have some excellent players and expect our full backs to be in for a couple of tough nights. Saying that, barnes will have a field day if he is top form. Hopefully vards in back for at least the away leg.

One thing potentially in our favour is they have a big cup final against Ajax on the Sunday after our game.

Went to Eindhoven with a couple of mates a couple of years ago. It’s pretty small so you can walk pretty much everywhere.

It was also a great night out! There was a bar called Feestfabriek where you could pay €1 and spin a big wheel to potentially win drinks. We span it 3 times for €3 and won 10 beers, some shots and a spirit and mixer drink lol

I was straight on the flights and already looking forward to this one!

PSV have got a wonderful tradition and had some brilliant players over the years including:

Van Breukelen

Gerets

Stam

Koeman

van Bommel

Cocu

Robben

Gullit

Nilis

Van Nistelroy

Romario

Fat Ronaldo

And many, many others.

Feels like a proper European tie does this.

PAOK, Bodo/Glimt, Slavia Prague are all from countries who'd not regularly find teams in knockout competition. Add ourselves into the mix and it's giving opportunity to teams that otherwise wouldn't compete.

I'd personally rather see half the Prem in Europe, as opposed to competing in the declining farce that is the League Cup. I don't care how it's achieved, having fixtures against clubs from other countries is always exciting.

That’s true, if we can get a result in the home fixture, they may have one eye on the cup final on the 17th.

*we play in Eindhoven on the 14th

I quite like having the home game first, win your home game and then go out there and try and pick them off.

I'm convincing myself of the same. It might suit us. If we can get ahead in the first leg then it takes some pressure off the second leg and we are a team that needs as much pressure removing from us as possible.
