Atmosphere at the KP

Well I'm gonna stand my ground and say that, if there really are this many people pissed off at goal music sanitising the experience, one of our 'singing sections' should easily be able to get an audible chorus going of something telling the club that it's shit and they don't want it.

I guess after being active on FT since 2009, I've seen these complaints about goal music atmosphere do the rounds for a solid decade-plus, back to Chelsea Dagger days, but it's bleeding obvious that nobody is willing to be 'that guy' getting his mates to shout from the stands that they don't like it.

The only time I can EVER remember the crowd reacting negatively to goal music was when Fire was 'revealed' over the PA at half time and you could hear a few grumbles and boos. Never heard them again after goals though. I guess it's hard to separate the joy of scoring from the genuine complaints people have about goal music, but if people really care about it as much as this place suggests, it's about time folks swallowed their pride and started making noises to that effect in the stands, rather than on 35 page threads that have been going around in circles since Matty Fryatt was spanking goals past MK Dons and Cheltenham.

FoxesTalk is just boring in that respect. It really shouldn't be hard to get a hundred-plus people in SK1 or L1 to sing 'goal music is f**king sh*t' for a few weeks after we score. Or are you saying that UFS isn't capable of such a feat?

Trust me when I say UFS are trying their very hardest to get the club to consider things about atmosphere. They have to be careful in not to alienate existing supporters when doing that. You only have to look how some disapproved of the tifo at Legia. UFS feel not to make public the various discussion they had with the club.

You have to bear in mind; the club have even stopped UFS doing a charity food bank at this time of year.

The club have now hired some beefcakes in security who are throwing people out for the smallest infringements. Hence it’s a very delicate balance at the moment and all out attack probably isn’t the best policy for UFS.

Additionally the club have closed down the very avenue for people to make comment. There was a fan consultation group which doesn’t happen now. I believe they invite a very small number to make comment earlier this season about the family stand ?

I emailed lcfc help about the goal music and the pre match music volume. They reckon they also have complaints that the music isn't loud enough in some parts of the ground!

The fact they mention that within a reply proves the club needs to improve their fan consultation substantially. It’s not really professional to do that and doesn’t make you feel valued as a supporter

I think it's Chevaliers De Sangreal - Hans Zimmer from the Da Vinci Code soundtrack

I think he means after - it's Easy Life isn't it? I get the Leicester connection but it doesn't have the same effect as Club Foot. Understood why they don't want to continue with Kasabian after the Tom incident but this is hardly an ideal replacement.

Loads of people steam down to get a pint on 37/38/39 mins, but nobody mentions that, when really it's no different to leaving early.

It has been mentioned and they also sell refreshments other than beer, although I think we're straying from the point of the thread.

Ah yeah, no it's not the same. I'm no Kasabian fan, and I totally agree about binning it off after what Tom did, but there's a certain type of music that goes hand in hand with football, and Kasabian fall into that category. Easy Life don't for me

Why get defensive about it?

This thread is about the crap atmosphere. Swathes of people heading for the exits is not conducive to a good atmosphere, whether they have a good reason or not.

...swathes of people leaving 5 minutes before the end of the game is not the reason for the atmosphere!!!

The on pitch displays and our limited repertoire in songs and chants has a big part to play in this. The P A system may be unduly loud and a hinderance to socialising ( a big part of why we go down) but that is a side issue not the root cause.

Union FS are our de facto ultras and yet apart from their Tifos there is little vocally orchestrated sound noticeably being generated by them.

As I have said before, the European supporters even in much smaller numbers are more vocal and a lot of their chants and noise bears no resemblance as to what is happening on the pitch.

No I agree with you but our atmosphere is shite. I’ve already posted on it. I just think the  Newcastle fans ain’t anything special either.

Trust me, I’m not trying to give these clowns any credit they don’t deserve, ha!

That's interesting. I was going to suggest maybe they should make their discussions with the club public. I trust UFS are doing a great job regardless.

There is a simple answer,. which is having no concessions in a particular area, this way a certain demographic of supporters will naturally gather in that area. OAPs and kids are still allowed but they pay full price, it was this way at Filbert Street but it was removed when we moved to The Walkers. I paid an adult price as a kid at Filbert St because I wanted to be where the noise was, and it was fantastic.

The problem is implementing this now is there's no way some supporters would ever be persuaded to vacate a small area, even for the greater good. The resistance will be huge when some will be asked to relocate for the new East Stand.

So my view sadly is that the atmosphere at the KP is all but finished.

I genuinely dread how bad it could be if the new East Stand forces everyone in L1 to disband. The club need to be proactive in talking with fans.

I was in Stratford for the Napoli game on Thursday so seeing the fans come in I thought I might as well watch West Ham while I was there.

Absolutely awful atmosphere. Barring the bubbles song at the beginning there's pockets or noise with vast majority of the crowd sitting in silence.

Not saying we're much better these days but going to have the same issues going forward. More fans in the ground but fans are so spread it's got nothing on Upton Park.

Hello David,

I have spoken with the relevant department who have confirmed the Goal music will be reviewed at the end of the season.

In terms of the volume, we’re having issues with the PA system at the moment, with some areas the speakers being really quiet and others too loud, despite the same level being sent everywhere.

We have started to address the issue, but due to the shortage of electronic chips, some of the hardware we require won’t be available until the new year.

Kind regards

Donna

They might as well have responded f*** you

I hate to think what sort of hardware they are waiting for.
