Injuries definitely seem to have been more prevalent since Dave Rennie left the club. Don't know if that's coincidence?

Oh, the David Rennie myth! The god of modern-day medicine the way he revered on Foxestalk, the government should have got him on C19. He would have cured the world in no time and turned water into wine in his spare time.

Or, more likely, a global pandemic causing an unscheduled break in the season, resulting in a restart where all teams struggled to get players fit and ready, resulting in injuries.

Follow by cramming in the last quarter of the season in a shortened period, then a short than usual pre-season for 20/21.

Once you get a few injuries, it increases the load on other players. For example, Soyuncu has played every game due to no other option available, and he has picked up a niggle.

Roger’s injury update from this week…

Iheanacho, Ayoze Perez, Ademola Lookman, Jannik Vestergaard, Daniel Amartey, Filip Benkovic, Vontae Daley-Campbell & Hamza Choudhury

Injury: Illness

Potential return date: vs Everton (Dec 19)

What Rodgers has said: “We’ve still got a number of players out. In terms of Covid, we’re still where we were. It’s a similar group of players that have been out that will continue to be out.

Daniel Amartey will be back, but’s only available after a period of time out, so we can’t consider him to start the game."

Jonny Evans

Injury: Hamstring

Evans pulled up with a hamstring injury in the fourth minute of City's 4-0 win at home to Newcastle and was substituted off immediately.

Possible return date: vs Everton (Dec 19)

What Rodgers said: “(Evans) not as bad as first feared. The scan has come through as best as we could have hoped for. He’ll struggle for tomorrow’s game and we’ll see where he’s at for the weekend."

Caglar Soyuncu

Injury: Hamstring

Possible return date: vs Man City (Dec 26)

What Rodgers said this week: "Soyuncu has picked up an injury so he will be unavailable for the game as well. We’ll see where he’s at for the weekend. Again, it's a player having to play more than we would want because of people unavailable.

Ricardo Pereira

Injury: Hamstring

The full-back has missed the last six games in all competitions after picking up a hamstring injury in training.

Potential return date: vs Tottenham (Dec 16th)

What Rodgers said this week: "Apart from (the players missing through illness), it will be the same squad minus Jonny and Cags."

Wesley Fofana

Injury: Broken leg and ankle ligament damage

Fofana suffered the serious injury during the pre-season friendly fixture against Villarreal and is in the final stage of his rehabilitation

Potential Return date: January/February

What Rodgers has said: "Wesley is going to be a while," the City boss revealed before the Newcastle match. "It’s not imminent.

"It will be a period of time before he’s back. It’s not any longer than we first thought.

"We talked about January but it could be the end of January or early February. We will just have to wait and see."

James Justin

Injury: Knee

Justin is close to returning to action after sustaining anterior cruciate ligament damage during the FA Cup win over Brighton in February, undergoing surgery and rehabilitation in the months that followed.

Return date: December

What Rodgers has said: "JJ will be back in a few weeks’ time which will be a huge help for us," he said before the Newcastle match.

The full-back is expected to take part in an U23 game before returning to full team action as he looks to build up match fitness.

I've rang the Premier League and am waiting for a call back.  As supporters we need answers as to why this game is being forced to be played yet others aren't. We've NOT paid our hard earned cash to watch first team players play out of position or reserve /youth team players.   This is turning into a farce.

The number, if anyone would like to call them is 0207 8649000.

Hahaha good luck with that you donut. Half our absentees aren't even covid related and was last week. Spurs are trying to play a European game instead. It's not a farce at all. You trying to ring the premier League is farcical. Let me know if they change their  mind or not on the back of your call, if not I will write a strongly worded letter and that ought to do the trick.

Looking at the Spurs forum this looks likely to be their team.

3-4-3: Lloris; Sanchez, Dier, Tanganga; Doherty, Winks, Ndombele, Sessegnon; Bergwijn, Kane, Alli.

Very very average but includes Kane so i'm going to go for a 0-4 loss.

We can get at that side.

Just need to keep an eye on Kane.

An 'open' letter is the way forward!
