Apparently RB were going to start Max on the hard tyre but Max said no.

This is funny, seeing Max's face as Lewis and George say Ferrari were on the hards lol

I guess this is where Max and Lewis will have the edge on Charles for a few years. Got the experience and bottle to say "F-Off" to a strategy when they believe it's obviously awful.

Yeah Christian Horner said in his interview with sky afterwards they had planned to start on hards but because of radio calls from both drivers on the way to the grid saying they was struggling to get any heat into the softs they abandoned that idea

Wonder who then moves into the Alpine?

It solves their Oscar Piastri problem who should really have been on the grid this year. They were looking at trying to arrange a loan to Williams next year as they didn't have a seat for him. Williams are probably the most affected by the musical chairs, they may go cheap and promote the young American who is their driver in F2 this year.

I think they'll promote Logan tbh, especially with how Americanised the calender is getting having a yank in the car seems a no brainer, and he is talented

From a financial point of view, could attract more revenue having an American driver.

Let the fun begin

Apparently Alpine's option on Piastri expired on 31st July and they were expecting Alonso to stay so didn't use it

Then Alonso gets announced at AM on 1st August, and the first anyone at Alpine knew about it was seeing the press release...

Shades of Jenson Button a few years ago ?

Didn’t he have this situation with Benetton and BAR back in the day ..

Basically he signed a deal with Williams, which BAR got the lawyers out and then he ended up staying, he then signed another deal with williams to join I think it was 2 years. Then BAR ended up looking a better place for him, so he wanted to rip his Williams contract up for BAR lol

It's a stitch up of Alpine, according to a mate of mine who follows this stuff more closely than I do.

"This sounds like a huge orchestrated stitch up on Alpine between Flavio, Webber, Alonso and Piastri. Flavio manages Fernando and used to manage Webber , who now manages Piastri. Alonso and Webber are also very good mates.

Supposedly Alpine had until 31st July to engage their race seat option on Piastri. They didn't and Alonso kept stum until yesterday on the Aston deal, by which point Alpine have lost them both. Otmar sounds like a beaten man today.

Stroll also had a biblical falling out with Otmar, which is why he was binned out of Aston last year."
