Pre Match Thread - Man City (A) / 26th Dec / 15.00

Recommended Posts

At what point does Brendan seriously have to look at how they train, prepare and recover for games? His injury record here is a disgrace and it's quite amazing how well he managed to do here but it's now taking its toll.

Schmeichel

Albrighton

Amartey / Nelson

Vestergaard

Thomas

Soumare

Tielemans

KDH

Maddison

Perez / Lookman

Iheanacho

Hope we have the likes of Chris Popov and Maswanhise on the bench but I bet we won't.

Why have we not tried harder to get this game called off. We must be struggling to field a team as it is.

I see Liverpools game is called off today they always seem to come up smelling of roses don’t they? Then we got to play them 48hrs later and that will be our 3rd game in 6 days and they will have had a decent break.

Fear the worst these next 2 games!

Been saying it awhile that new training ground has something to do with it. Whether it’s training schedule or pitches something isn’t right but u would think they would know that with all the specialists/scientists etc at clubs these days. Is it just luck??

It's not just the training ground, our injuries under him were quote prolific prior to us moving in there so I'm more inclined to look at that and also his track record at others clubs which is bad and the common denominator is Rodgers and his training methods.

Think you can only call it with lots of Covid cases, we have more injuries than Covid cases at the minute I believe?

Been thinking the same about the injuries for some time and believe the problem goes deeper than simply Rennie leaving. The injuries started kicking in about 9 months into Rodgers tenure here and it wouldn't be the first time a clubs injuries have increased after a new manager comes in playing higher intensity & pressing football (compared to Puel) but not for it to go on for this long. Training intensity, conditioning and sports science (methods and staff inc Brendan) all need looking at.

Players being rushed back from injuries would be down to the physios but why are we picking up so many injuries in the first place.

Can cope with injuries like ricardo but the amount of muscle strains we get surely something to do with training?

Could be, couldn’t it?
it would be interesting to see data compared with other PL clubs of strain injuries.

What’s the connection with that and cancelling the Man City game?!! Can you only cancel 2 games?

Surely they won’t let you continue to use covid as an excuse, week after week …..you have an outbreak and you have postponements. Surely you then have to sort your covid crap out. also, we still don’t know how many players had covid and how many were isolating.

It’s not liverpool - it’s Leeds.  Liverpool have held their covid cases to three or four.  Leeds have huge numbers of injuries and then some covid cases in addition.   Our ‘first eleven’ a decent break ahead of playing liverpool ………..

yes I know it’s Leeds that’s why I said Liverpool always come up smelling of roses because they have had a 6 day break and rested the likes of Salah even longer than that.

our ‘first eleven’ played against Liverpool (half kids and we still struggled) and (what’s available) will have to play today and then against Liverpool 48hrs later because we are down to the bare bones so no rest for us.

We usually go weak in one of the two games

presumably that will be today although some that he would have wanted to play once will have to play twice

Trouble is we are already at weak due to injuries and covid so he will just have to field what’s available. Fearing the worst today but let’s hope pep messes his tactics up and Daka gets a few goals. I would say Vardy but apparently he played 20 mins with a tight hamstring against Liverpool so can’t see him playing today🙈

I understand where you’re coming from but if you were a liverpool fan ahead of Wednesday night you’d have been saying that Leicester have had ten days rest ….

we’ve had a clutch of players who missed ten days training because they weren’t vaccinated. That’s a self inflicted problem. If other clubs don’t have this particular issue then that’s not their fault !

Feel genuinely sorry for anyone travelling to Manchester today. Possibly going to be as close to Stoke away that dreadful season as we’ve been for some time. Genuinely fear this will be a biggest defeat we’ve ever suffered…..

There will be no holding back for city today, it’s a golden chance for the to get three points and batter their goal difference. Anything less than 4-0 will be a victory haha.
