Blanchflower78 Posted 8 January 2022 Share Posted 8 January 2022 Given the desperate situation I'm amazed we haven't a solid loan link yet at CB. Absolutely no sense in hanging around till final knockings of the window, we need bodies now!

Twice we should have made top 4 and we failed miserably by poor performances but this season we have carried on with them You’ve answered your own question there, occasionally you’ll get teams who make the final out of surprise, but we weren’t a surprise…. It’s too easy to just suggest poor form is the reason we threw away two top four finishes, form wasn’t great no, but we also had injury issues then, and a lacking in experience when it mattered. The reason the big teams spend their millions is for moments exactly like that? Moments when the money speaks and gets you where you want to be. We are taking a slower approach, but most summers one of our assets leaves for big money, in some cases near PL record price tags which says a lot about how we’re progressing. We’ve got an unbelievably talented squad, who are gaining experience season by season, form hasn’t been great, no, but there’s so many reasons why, the main one being at no stage have we consistently been able to put a full squad out, at some point since last Feb we’ve had this issue, continuing disruptions in key areas, all of which contribute to the inconsistent form. We still managed to win an FA cup and a charity shield…. So, this idea that we’re on a crash course for failure simply isn’t true. We’re progressing, and progression is never a simple it’s up and down and often frustrating…. But you cite teams like West Ham, yes they’re doing well now, but the long term prospect of their team isn’t as good as ours, and is likely for fizzle out over the next few seasons… and Newcastle, I can assure you will just continue to be as erratic as they always have been, just with a bit more cash. Just chill out and enjoy the ride, we’re fine and we are going on the right direction with a few minor wobbles.

Guest Kopfkino Posted 8 January 2022 Share Posted 8 January 2022 What happened in the last two days where Brendan has gone from saying we need to get at least a CB in asap, probably on loan to there sounding like there’s no chance of anything this month and we’ll have to wait until the summer. I didn't get this. Presumably hes been told they spent 15m on a centre half for him and he's not ****ing using him.

Dahnsouff Posted 8 January 2022 Share Posted 8 January 2022 Surely the request would have been for experience rather than pace, so despite Jannick thus far failing to impress, it is hardly a surprising signing.

Sly Posted 8 January 2022 Share Posted 8 January 2022 In fairness, I think Bertrand has struggled with COVID. We all sort of guessed that Vesty wouldn’t fit.

Sir Shep Posted 9 January 2022 Share Posted 9 January 2022 Ok probably in a minority but if we can get a defender in on loan then great, other than that I think we should save our money and play our youngsters more, we are good enough to stay up so let's see what happens. lcfc_forever Posted 9 January 2022 Share Posted 9 January 2022 (edited) Barcelona need to remove more players from their squad to register new signings so wouldn’t surprise me if we got either Lenglet or Umtiti. Likewise, Loan players don't want to commit in the hope that they'll get a 3 or 4 year contract somewhere. As the clock winds down they begin to think it's not going to happen and so will make decisions for their future.
