Probably trying lots of different letters to eliminate possibilities. It's sometimes a better tactic than guessing words with letters you already know are there early on.

 

If he's got 3 letters including 1 in the right place and eliminated a further 12 (probably gone through all the vowels and 10 common consonants), you can probably work it out quite well.

I don't seem to need to do it anymore as my brain has kicked into gear, but I used to quite often try a word that couldn't be right in the hope of getting another letter or two if I was struggling.

 

Anyway, frustrating today as if I'd used my second most frequent starting word I'd have been on for a 'two'

Unusual guess today as I did it without any yellow letters.  First guess helped to narrow the options down significantly.

You should just be able to block the word "Wordle".

 

Settings - Privacy and Safety - Mute and Block - Mute Words
