Popular Post gerblod Posted 14 July 2022 Popular Post Share Posted 14 July 2022 (edited) This situation provokes some questions about the the current 'bigger picture' at City. Last summer's transfer in of the two Saints players seemed to indicate a complex response to two 'issues' - Fofana's injury and the reliability of Luke Thomas. Both turned out to be failed 'solutions' to a. a real problem and b. to a lack of confidence in his player by Rodgers. We don't know what thinking persuaded the recruitment decision makers to opt for the choices they made. Perhaps it was panic - in Fofana's case; Rodgers' insistence in the other. Vestagaard was justifiable - just turned out a bad fit. Bertrand's was nonsensical. But these decisions and the Tielemans situation indicate that there's something awry in the recruitment process and the balance of power at the club. Rodgers has had to deal with a significant injury backlog in defence. The transfers-in failed almost completely to ameliorate those challenges. Fofana and Justin's return, Maddison's sustained high level of performance and KDH's emergence as a midfield dynamo served to ensure a decent end to the season. But Tielemans has become a shadow man whose only remarkable input has been his careless clumsiness in tackles. He needed resting - not because of his fitness - but because he had become uncommitted. I'd have played Mendy in his place. His head isn't at City any more. I suspect he's not really arsed about United or Arsenal either. If he goes to whichever he'll be amply rewarded financially and maybe he'll perform well for a season - if he gets an automatic selection. But his situation reflects a passivity pervading the playing arm of the club. Rodgers gives the appearance of a man who's lost his mojo; whose talk of a refit, rejig, re-anything isn't being reflected in any proactive activity in the transfer market. The silence is deafening. There's not even rumours about rumours. For me, that's a troubling sign. Edited 14 July 2022 by gerblod Changes to poor wording.

I struggle to believe that you genuinely mean that Infairness, with Ndidi out, Mendy Madders and KDH looked a lot more stable than with tielemans playing that role.

I mean it's not very nice is it rendering on the back is ****ed too. They're probably selling it and buying somewhere a bit more Premier League. Also lots of players seem to be preferring to live on the Notts side now so maybe they'll invest there.

Man City are going strengthen with Haaland and Phillips in and still make a profit this window. Mental

Well they haven't agreed personal terms yet. The fee with Barca wasn't ever the issue, its that De Jong probably prefers getting 500k/ week in sunny Barcelona while playing CL football. He's got a contract and unless they rip it up and pay him out (which is unlikely given they still owe him another 17m), I don't see how he goes to Utd

Lambert09 Posted 14 July 2022 Share Posted 14 July 2022 Not sure if this has been mentioned (or is allowed) but a certain Cm for arsenal has is being investigated for (being a scummy human) . They have stated currently they arent suspending him but if proven guilty he will joining the premier league prison 11. So regardless of how this shakes out.. they will be feeling extra pressure to get Youri in imo.

If he's no longer an employee Barcelona dont have to give him the money is my understanding.
