Youri Tielemans

He’s not planning on leaving this summer, he will walk for free next summer and you’ll still have people here defending him. He’s ****ed us because we don’t have endless reserves of cash to see valuable talent run down their contract and leave for nothing.

You're being absurd, I'm afraid.

He (wisely) negotiated a 4 year deal instead of the 5 we wanted when signing. I clearly remember the itk guy kristof terruer saying how the tough negotiations he saw us give Man Utd over Maguire influenced his thinking at the time not to lock into too long a contract

It's not his job to run LCFC's business and finances.

What else should he do if nobody wants him?

That's it you see, whether, his attitude, focus or general concentration has been variable to say the least , he is still a very high class player. Occasionally he performs to world class standard and Rodgers will be very reluctant to do without that.

...you get the feeling that Rodgers is his #1 fan, he has nothing but positive things to say regarding what he brings and his character!!!

Pretty much a fawning indulgence from Rodgers in their relationship, a bit like a proud dad.

Belgium always seem to get to the quarters in the WC, this winter they could go further and Tielemans could have a sensational campaign.

He seems love play great for Belgium getting the vital goal.

Come January he could be worth 80m.... maybe it's worth giving him a years extension on his contract to suit both parties

He's entitled to run out his contract, why is it only players that have to honour contracts? If a club hands out a contract we should be ready for a player to see it out in full, why shouldn't he?

If our summer transfer business was entirely, 100% dependant on us selling him for a tidy sum of money regardless of the fact we just made noticeably more in TV and Prize money than plenty of the clubs below us that are already throwing money around then that's on us.

Players letting their contracts run out will be a continuing theme for the next few years. If you want to play CL and the English big six or PSG don’t want you, it’s the best way. Look at Christensen, Rudiger, Mbappe, partly Lewandowski

He should do the decent thing to the club who got his career back on track and sign the long term contract thats on offer, which apparently has got a release clause for Champions League clubs to come and buy him. If he thinks he’s a Champions League player, then prove it, instead he knows he will have plenty offers next summer when he can walk and take the sign on fee himself, he looks like he’s gonna sit it out to the detriment of our club. If he stays without signing the contract, he shouldn’t play, simple as that.

That would be the proper thing to do but a few bad results and you know they would be screaming to bring him back on here. That's football.

Most on here want him gone though so signing a new deal achieves nothing. He's best to leave on a free.

Absolutely, because if he's given the opportunity and doesn't work hard next year he's stuffed as far as being attractive to a really top club. Sit him on the bench and make him work and fight for a place.

I hope it doesn't get nasty, but the club proved with Demarai Gray that a move-or-sign ultimatum can be given -- although, of course, Gray was much more peripheral to the team and a bit of a knob to boot.

But if the club is working under the assumption he is moving, it will get a replacement, and if Youri ends up staying, he might be benched with the gaffer looking to the future.

👏🏻👍🏻 Agreed, it’s in neither parties interest to get to a point where relationships get frayed, I suppose my point was that Youri isn’t holding all the cards and he needs to consider that should he propose to run his contract to an end in a World Cup season.

I hope there’s clarity sooner rather than later in terms of a contract extension or receiving an acceptable bid, but expect this to drag on to the final day on the window.

One year extension, should be announced this week.

Rob Dorset also reporting the same.

Not bad. He knows he’s going to have to up his game from last year if he wants to go to a perennial CL squad.
