£75 million with add ons included?

I just feel like we’ve lost out on this deal big time. Anything from now until the end of the window will just be bought on impulse and if we don’t get who we want then we may as well have waited until next summer.

In the words of Pep Guardiola, “We cannot replace him”

**** it who cares.....

Look the club will find better players in the future and the cycle will happen again.

It's kinda like we have loaned a player for a seasons worth of games and gained 55 million for doing so.

If we don't sign anyone it's because the board do not trust BR with the funds.

L’Equipe mentioning that Saint-Etienne’s cut will be based on profit and not the full fee

Will be up to €10m / £8.5m

Does anyone know whether we had further add ons when we bought Fofana I.e. over and above £36 million?

Given the level of professionalism we've seen from him, they wouldn't need to. He'd politely get out of their way, and would probably even put a couple of them through on goal.

So if that's correct, it's not a record.

Story broke in France who said it could be record with addons. He says “around”, which means he actually doesn’t know, pinch of salt

Paper work done. What about the medical?  That is likely to be seriously comprehensive following that level of injury.  If we did cave in and accept less than 80m, that is just another error of judgement on the part of the people running this Club.  However, Romano is not always correct in his information.

Which is my point. We’ll find the right signings but not with a week to go.

We’ve weakened ourselves and it’s not even like we’ve made more profit than we would of done next summer.

He's been a bit off this summer

Imagine we’ll go for loans if a CB target not fully lined up, then funds in Jan if needed. Not ideal but at least there’s a sense we could add to the squad now

If the add ons are for winning the Premier League and Champions League we’ll only ever get the initial fee :P

Also if he stays for more than two seasons!

That article mentions that we bought him for €40m + €5m in add ons

Christ, based on the exchange rate in 2020 that's coming out at £38 million unless my maths is rubbish

Yeah you’re probably right, still have no idea how we’ll improve this defence though.

We’re one Evans injury from being in the mud. Realistically we could do with 2 new CBs now he’s gone

If we only get the initial 70M our profit will be 34M minus 20% sell on fee to St Etienne so 27M (probably still minus agent fees, etc on that).

Very little relative to the market and his improvement under us and easily wastable on 1 or 2 panicked last minute Rodgers signings (a la Bertrand & Vestergaard).

Having said that it had to happen as we can't afford another Mahrez situation (where he sulks for a season) going into a potential relegation battle and we could easily have ended up in a perverse situation where we made a loss on a world class young player we had improved when we finally sold him (see Tieleman's) considering the 36M we paid for him.

Another lesson would be the sell on fee we agreed to. I know it was last minute and we were desperate but still.

We need to spend over the next 5 days. If we don’t we are in trouble.

If we do we might be in more trouble given the track record for last minute signings like Vestergaard.

Need a loan with a view to buy for the likes of Levi Colwill or Nat Philips.
