Wesley Fofana - He is no more - finished - forgotten.

My main concern is that in recent times we've had a reputation as being strong negotiators (at least when it comes to selling) but we've been bullied very publicly here and other clubs will smell blood.

Got this horrible feeling that we are well and truly in the shit behind the scenes.

Salary caps can only work in conjunction with a "draft" and a no relegation system... this is a great way to equalise the clubs but destroys true competition.

Socialism in sport, everyone gets their chance to become the best team (in a mediocre league)

I normally agree with you but we part ways here. I'd hardly call the NBA "a mediocre" league. The big teams still tend to do better because they can attract big players via free agency but it also gives small market clubs like Minnesote, OKC and Toronto a real shot of one day winning the title. I much prefer this style than football, which is just a disgusting cesspool of greed and unmitigated capitalism, where the rich gets richer and most clubs can literally never win a trophy in the top flight...

She says all this while posting on a football forum! 😄

Does it suit us to have a transfer deal that's perceived to have a risk of falling through?

to stop the coach spending any money - yes

but then we can’t  be responsible for Chelsea’s timescale on the medical  - they have no rush on the deal being done before Thursday am when first team training resumes after tomorrows evening game.

how many deals can we actually get done in a single day - even with things lined up.  And we can surely now only buy/loan players where clubs don’t need to bring in replacements

I mean it isn’t like we can’t do anything until the deal is confirmed

We can still line up our own deals and have them ready to go

Too optimistic.

You should be banned from the forum for two transfer windows.

Of course it will. Don’t you think Bohley knows that?  Payback for rinsing them on the deal. Here’s your money but you can do feck all with it now. Bye.

The club should say no.  Chelsea have been disgusting throughout the whole process.  They want the player, pay the money we want and get it done quickly.  They should have said no to this ridiculous medical.

It was a fibula fracture and dislocation, there should be no longer term issue with that type of injury whatsoever

he had a lot of damage to the ankle ligaments with the dislocation, so they are probably having a closer look at that

People are saying it’s not that far to fly.
Yeah, it might only be 8 hours, but what - do you expect him to do the medical on the ****ing runway?

If they’re playing this game with us, they’ll string this out…

Medical will happen tonight. He’ll pass it.

But they’ll attempt one last round at negotiating the price down throughout Tuesday.
That we drag into Weds, and then they’ll finally announce late Wed / very early Thursday.

If we don’t have players lined up, contracts agreed and ready to sign as soon as the cash hits our bank, then, based on the running of the club since last season and knowing for months we’re in financial shit, we deserve to go down. - You either tell Fofana he’s not going anywhere. Or you have replacements lined up. Difficult to blame BR for this one.

The only way they can negotiate the deal down is based on evidence that appears during the medical - I would suggest that this close to the deadline that would pull the plug on the deal (unless it reveals stuff we’re already aware of and therefore can’t complain about)

Wonder if this is attempt to comeback with his medical is a little ropey, we want to reduce the fee.

You beat me too it, I seriously wouldn't  put it past them to try and drive down a price they never wanted to pay 🤷‍♂️

I presume a price was agreed subject to medical. If they don't like what they see in the medical then I see the deal as being off full-stop. But of course they can attempt to renegotiate, just as we can say no.

Fun this innit?

You cannot blame Chelsea for getting a thorough medical after such a serious injury. Like most I'm worried that if the sale goes through midweek we will have 24 hours to complete 2-3 signings and we could get into a similar situation to the Silva one. If he fails the medical or Chelsea ask to withhold part of the fee until his long term fitness is proven then everything is up in the air.

Do we not have enough funds to agree a couple of loan deals at least whilst this is resolved?

Would be funny if they pulled out and he had to come back to us after them not wanting him.

I would straight away tell them to do one if they tried to reduce the fee

Doesn’t that depend what they find and whether we are already aware of it ………..

True, like we had the Adrian Silva deal lined up for when Chelsea finally got the Drinkwater deal done, that ended well! :P
