Some sense in this thread! Even by Foxestalk standards there's so much nonsense in here. We will have had talks with players/agents several  weeks ago. Now we progress things & they will be ready to go.

If we didn’t have form for silva type f ups then there would be less nonsense going around …..

Especially when Rodgers “spent all summer” convincing targets to join.

That or, if you're a cynic, he's being sent to a specialist the owner owns who's going to magically find a reason Fofana should cost fifteen million less, even though they'll still want to sign him.

Funny how they’ve just decided to keep Chalobah as well, considering he was touted as definitely off not long ago.

They can see how short they are as silva cannot play each mid week

they like to play 3 atb - i couldn’t understand how they thought t was a good idea to let him go.  Having Reece James as a CB rather than wing back is nuts

Several weeks ago we were not bottom of the PL with a manager hanging on by his silver tongue. We are very unattractive at the moment and we can't even use money to bribe players.

Our current league position doesn’t make much difference. The lure of the PL is huge and our recent record of success will be bigger factors.

Salary caps can only work in conjunction with a "draft" and a no relegation system... this is a great way to equalise the clubs but destroys true competition.

Socialism in sport, everyone gets their chance to become the best team (in a mediocre league)

Why? Please explain.

I see no reason in principle why you couldn't have a salary cap. It doesn't need to be tied to a draft or a no relegation system. I don't think it would be agreed to here because it would have to be set below the level the top few clubs spend, but that's a separate issue.

We’re also going to end up paying a premium for players now. Teams know we’re desperate for recruits. How much of the money we’ve made on Fofana will be creamed off because of other clubs playing the situation?

That's not really true tbh....

Plenty of teams that are trying to get rid of players they want to free up their wage bill.

Also let's be honest buying late could actually pay in our favour well if we buy that is 🤣

Worth clarifying he flew out yesterday so likely he’s already there.

But, but it's so far away, and with the time difference presumably it won't get done until next week! By which time, we'll have been relegated! Aaargh !

And we’ve only made about £25M profit as well

I guess the FFP rules introduce a cap of sorts...it's just tied to each club's own turnover so will prevent clubs like us competing. They don't want a more level playing field.

I’m all for a salary cap however it would have to be Europe/world wide and would have to be brought in gradually, for example to cover players careers signing their first pro from say next season. This will negate current players having to take massive pay cuts and will allow the cap to be set at a reasonable that will be more competitive.

So apparently he's gone to New York for a medical?

Maceys have a end of summer sale on and he is bored with that 4k jumper he had on at the Southampton game.
