I understand that the club want to be sustainable  and not spend money they’ve not got. However selling a star asset for big money then having to go on the search for a replacement feels the wrong way to go about things. Selling clubs will know we’ve got money to burn and will milk us dry.

Sometimes it genuinely doesn’t feel like we are as well run as we like to believe.

Unfortunately being well run doesn’t mean everything goes your way all of the time.

Given our position and needing to move players out to buy, you would think that we would have agreements in principle already in place for some targets. Hence the selling club shouldn’t move the goalposts on the price.

but then again maybe we haven’t ….

We’ve definitely moved away from our model and it’s come home to roost, trying to get a squad big enough for Europe and premier league has led to this issue with squad size of ‘established’ albeit average players on big wages, and not selling an asset last summer has increased the pressure on this. Feels like last two weeks has been bad news after bad news after the lack of activity this summer. Realistically one big players will need to leave and if we can take advantage of Chelsea throwing money around it’s probably something we will need to do. With our seeming never ending run of injuries whos to say little Wes doesn’t get an ACL this season.

Imagine the two largest ever transfer fees in the world for defenders are transfers from Leicester.... crazy!

We go from being everyone's examen of a well run club to a shambles so quickly. Shows you how things can turn

How is it a shambles?  How do LCFC stop other clubs bidding for players ?

All they can do is turn down bids, but if a silly offer comes in, it has to be considered.

100m for Fofana gets the deal done - desperately disappointing if he goes but the club has time to replace if it happens.  At the minute, they are saying he's not for sale !

Where's the shambles ?

So many on here trying to talk our best players out of the door. If we start the season badly ,where are they going to put the blame? The blame game is starting early this year but predictably the screaming for Rodgers's head will be centre stage - again. I will be quite happy now for our current squad to give us another season , they are more experienced and easily capable of a decent season.

...it really is a defense mechanism to rationalise a situation that may or may not happen!!!

We are not all alike, even though we are united in one goal, supporters of this club!!!

Believing that you come to terms with unpleasant news down the line by confronting it head on, will lessen the pain in the foreseeable future.

If it alleviate their fears, its a good thing..

Until we start losing games through weak defending then , first the players get hammered then the oh so predictable calls for Rodgers's head start. Then we still lose matches with another manager. Then who is left to blame? This has happened too often with other clubs for it not to happen to us.

It’s a hell of a gamble if the case and doesn’t particularly talk well of long term planning above Rodgers,

Selling a CB to fund a CB when ideally we need a third choice/prospect CB.

If this was all done in June, yeah clever. But season starts tonight

I think that's outrageous money when they've already got Chilwell...I wonder of Chilly is crocked amd they know it

Cucurella played a number of games as a LCB in a back 3 for Brighton. One of these games was a storming performance against Chelsea at Stamford bridge. I reckon he's being brought in as both a capable LWB but also as a LCB option. If Alonso goes to Barca then Cucurella can be centre back option aswell as back up or competition for Chilwell.

Get CHO in on the deal if Rodgers is genuinely a fan. 1 yr loan deal. No fee. They pay the wages. Option to buy for next to nowt at end of loan as it's his final year then.

That's some decent value and they can save face. They're paying him without utilizing him anyway so it's no skin off their teeth.

In terms of a replacement CB, if there's no obvious value, then perhaps move in on Sangare and use Wilf as CB cover with an adequate DM as cover. That requires a few outs in the mid, but we can let a few go at the current offers it we had to.

As I was saying yesterday - when we sold Maguire for a similar fee, we'd just finished the season in 8th. Since then we've built a new training ground, revamped the squad, and had two consecutive 5th place finishes & an FA Cup win. It's not all doom and gloom.

Do you trust the club to re-invest this potential cash with our patchy recent recruitment record?

For all the bad recruitment decisions over the past year singing Wes to a 5 year deal was a fantastic move as it enables probably a world record fee required to sell. Although sad to see him go, the finance will help us dramatically.

The long term sustainability is more important than any player. I'm confident we won't be in a relegation fight. Probably mid table but with less financial stress.

Name a club that hasn't?

It's the nature of the beast, you have to get more right than wrong.
