LCFC - West Ham Post Match Thread 2-2

Recommended Posts

It is not just the appalling decision to bring Vestergard on and invite them on to us for the last few minutes (demonstrating Rodgers inability to learn about the definition of insanity) but earlier, he brings on Lookman for Madison……who his having another great game. Madison was not impressed.

What a ridiculous strategy. Take off your best players and invite the opposition to attack you.

Made worse by bringing on Vestergard…..who really, really is useless. Robbie Keane explains that Vestergard’s actions are the definition of incompetence.

I’m sick of this stupidity.

Lookman had Barnes unmarked and wide open to his left which would have sealed the game - chose to shoot. Stupid. Given the inevitable late goal conceded from a set piece, to me, that Demarai-esque moment of utter stupidity cost us the three points.

Few weeks ago..think it was spurs.

Barnes should have squared to lookman and we'd have probably have won.

Today it was other way round.

You have to say all the armchair managers and set piece experts that called for us to stop zonal, go man for man and get players on the post really have managed to solve the problem.

They’ll move on to criticising something else whatever takes their fancy next, never acknowledging the fact their solution has yielded no benefit

Zonal defending was a complete disaster. The fact that man for man has appeared to yield little benefit is that we have a shit defence that can't handle set pieces.

The sub made all the difference to our game management, and saw us immediately drop deeper.

Meanwhile, Vestergaard added NOTHING at all. He didn't win tackles, didn't win headers. He was just there!

Was a poor sub to be fair. If it was to bring on a solid defender fair enough. Even still it invites the opposition to come on to us. They are just as concerned about conceeding as us. Or rather should be and vice versa. Keeping more attacking players on makes them think about coming on to us.

The armchair managers aren’t the third best paid in the league. We’re the absolute pits and conceded more goals than Burnley who are bottom.

We have lost 4-1 to Forest, 2-0 to Liverpool and now snatched a draw from the jaws of victory in the span of 7 days. That’s not taking into account whatever you want to call 1-1 vs Brighton and THAT Spurs game.

If you’re pro-Brendan fair enough. Taking aim at people for being p!ssed off at the now consistent shite we’re being served up now is just strange.

It’s not the system, it’s the attitude and determination that are key. Certain players don’t take responsibility. The opposition seem to be more aggressive at corners.

We lack that steeliness, we’re just too nice and passive when defending set pieces.

After the goal I'd find it hard to actually point out a single poor player through until those last 5 minutes. In particular Ricardo, Barnes, Dewsbury-Hall, Tielemans and Thomas. Said it in the match thread if we play like that and happen to lose a few games I think people would cut Rodgers some slack, it's the passive football that is unbearable.

Disgusting first half. Looked absolutely terrified to leave our own half. Standard BR tactics unfortunately. Ridiculous amount of passing sideways between the defence.

Between the 50th and the 70th, like a different team altogether. Everybody looking forward, lots of attacking intent, nobody messing around at the back. Crowd got behind them and we took the lead.

Last 10 minutes we went back to our old tricks, brought the worst defender in the league into the pitch and we threw it away again.

It's even more frustrating that we had that 20 minute glimpse of how well we can play when we are allowed to.

Strange take away that.

He pretty much did exactly today what you'd expect. Came off the bench, was busy, didn't do much wrong

Made a terrible decision to take a shot on when he could have squared it to Barnes who would havd only needed to pass it into the net under no pressure
