Popular Post hejammy Posted 16 February 2022 Popular Post Share Posted 16 February 2022 I really hope those so called "fans" don't cause any trouble for the away fans and also visa versa in the away leg. They seem like a good bunch and this is a big thing for them. They are properly excited by this and I hope our clubs reputation isn't tarnished by those tw@ts seen at the Forest game. 8

KrefelderFox666 Posted 16 February 2022 Share Posted 16 February 2022 Also, his comments about the best route into Europe being Top 7 sounds like this is not a focus and the league still trumps all. Which would be a shame. He also talks about Vestergaard, so is he going to start? I definitely think we need to play with wingers to help break them down, have both Barnes and Lookman playing with a lone striker.
Popular Post moore_94 Posted 16 February 2022 Popular Post Share Posted 16 February 2022 Pre-match Press Conference vs Randers - Brendan Rodgers Europa Conference League? “After the Napoli game, I genuinely hadn’t given it any thought whatsoever, the mindset was to finish in the higher competition. I didn't realise we were in this competition. I grew up being aware of three European competitions, now that we;re in this competition, we want to win it, and we will give everything we can to do that. We’ll embrace it.” Set-pieces? “Defending set-pieces is straight forward in that it's about organisation and a will to head the ball. You go through cycles and then you’re changing it. There is anxiety around it. West Ham have scored the most and we had defended them well. The goal arguably shouldn’t countered.,. It ptu a negative feel on a good game. It’s about that ruthlessness to get the first contact and that will to defend it. In the first 18 months it wasn’t a problem. There’s lots of work going on. We’ve worked on it, going zonal and then man to man, but you’ve got to stay concentrated right until the end, and then that ruthlessness will come back." Justin injury? “It’s hindsight. He’s a young guy who is a real supernatural athlete. His plan and the feeling for him was that he felt strong. We wanted to give Luke a rest, our youngest defender, so we had to find a place for him to have a breather. The plan was for JJ not to play on Thursday. He’s going to be a couple of weeks. It’s not too serious, but there’s a slight strain in there.” Best route into Europe? “No. We can finish in the top seven, we have an opportunity to still do that. We want to finish as high as we can and if we show the level we did in the second half on Sunday, we can have a positive end to the season. That’s our aim, to be in Europe.” Randers? “They play 4-4-2, they’re an honest team, the wingers come inside and they try to overload on the inside. We have to be at our best. The first leg at home, we want to continue with the positive elements of our game.” No away goals? “Each coach goes in to win the game. I don’t overthink it.” Vestergaard? “Jannik came in here with a specific role. We needed experience after we lost Wesley Fofana. He wasn’t quite fit. It’s been a difficult number of months. He put himself out there to play when he wasn’t fit. He’s got himself into a good condition. We have other players who play in his position. He’s a good guy and a top professional.” Anybody else injured? “Ricardo Pereira won’t play as part of his plan. We’ll get him ready for the weekend.” Vardy? “Vardy is working well, he’s 10 days to two weeks. He’s running on the pitch and is looking sharp.” Fofana? "He trains on Friday." Playing a team after a long break? “I’ve had experience of that, playing with Celtic against teams coming off a break. We can only concentrate on ourselves. They have been playing games, so I don’t think it will impact them too much.” Ndidi? “He’s been a really important player in my time here. You see the importance I give to him in the team. It’s a young team at the moment. His experience helps the players. Wherever I ask him to play, he gives us a great physicality. There are still areas he can improve on. He comes in with a joy to train and learn. He gives us all.” Ndidi future? “He seems very settled, he’s moved into a new house. He seems very happy. He’s a pleasure to work with. We hope he’ll be here for a few years." Ndidi valued at £50m? “He’s worth much more than that.” Play young players? “I don’t know how much younger we can go. This is a competition for senior players. Those guys are out on loan, Kasey and Vontae.” Small details gone against Leicester? “From a football perspective, there’s been quite a few incidents where moments have gone against us. I was much more enthused after the game at the weekend. We showed a lot more elements that have made us successful. The pressing, the speed of our game, scoring good goals, playing with energy. You sensed the positivity in the crowd. If you don’t do that, you have to accept that there will be criticism." Schmeichel? “Defending is collective, it’s not just the defence and the goalkeeper. There have been lots of goals we can analyse where we can better. Kasper is a very important member of the squad. He’s a fantastic shot-stopper.” Schmeichel future? “Kasper is getting to that stage of his career. He will want to play as long as he can. I think it’s pretty open. Kasper has this year and another year. It all depends on the player. He may want something fresh, a new challenge. But right now, he’s here, and he will be an important player for us. We communicate well, so it can be something we can speak about.” 4

How he thinks McAteer and VDC were the best crop of youngsters most ready for the 1st team is beyond me though. At least 2 will be on the bench on Thursday though by my calculations? Wanya Marca and Brunt I suspect.

cruzFOX Posted 16 February 2022 Share Posted 16 February 2022 If the players bring the same mindset and effort from the last game into this they should destroy rangers in the 1st half. big enough lead to rest a few players. There should be no pressure if it comes it’s because they are not performing and allowing the opposition hope. COYF! oh and let’s have a great home advantage atmosphere and impress the Danes. Please be nice/friendly to them!

ARM1968 Posted 16 February 2022 Share Posted 16 February 2022 This game will be very telling I think. Does Rodgers still command respect and hold the dressing room? We’ll soon see. If not, then drastic changes will be needed. The removal of the dressing room leaders or the manager.
