Nationalism is such a pernicious political tool, and has been used over and over and over again by regimes of various persuasions to manipulate its citizens into allowing heinous crimes. It is difficult to accept that everyday Russians are not at least partially complicit for allowing themselves to be manipulated in this way. They will bear the shame of these atrocities in the same way that the German people had to after the Second World War.

My personal take (could be wrong) is that  it is sometimes difficult for us in the west and other more open societies to comprehend the opaque control other countries/regimes populaces may be under. It seemed certain early in the conflict how the internal propaganda was managing the peoples beliefs, their decreasing access to varied news sources and this coupled with a history of such control makes any level of complicity difficult to understand.

Just seen Matt Le Tissier implying that this is a conspiracy. He is absolutely mental! What  a dickhead.

The extent to which the people who have been nuts about Covid are now extending this to everything else they see would be funny if it weren't so scary.

Some chat that putin hasn’t been seen in public or on telly ( not pre recorded) for over a week

He is supposed to be hiding in a bunker somewhere.  Not sure why though.  Maybe be is actually afraid of someone taking him out.

It's almost as if conspiracy theorism is a simply a way of life for some people, not just a specific idea about a particular issue..;)

It's a way of life for some but also once someone has fallen for one conspiracy theory they can become credulous to a whole range of other conspiracy theories since the premise is largely the same.

Facebook algorithms are written such that those who look at these type of pages then have similar suggested and the rabbit holes get ever deeper ……

Hungary willing to pay in Roubles apparently. Breaking ranks with the EU on decisions on dealing with Russia will be a slippery slope

It’s exactly why Putin has been infiltrating European governments, for this eventuality.

This is not good news. The problem is, we're hamstrung by mainland Europe's dependence on Russia for its energy supplies and there is a contractually binding agreement between all parties involved. I'm not sure how the EU would resolve this. Are we going to start sanctioning any country that agrees to buy Russian gas in Roubles?

As daft as it might sound, but can an arrest warrant be made towards getting Putin?

i think you’ll need a unity vote from  the UN Security Council for that which of course  Russia are a permanent member of…

Really sickening that he tweeted that. Not surprised Southampton cut ties with him. Also makes sense why Sky sacked him.

It's weird that the voice of ex pros carries so much weight years after their career.

Sad to see one of the great players of a generation spouting such bullshit.
