Russian missile just landed in Poland and killed 2 people.

Putin wants NATO to get involved because he's losing and wants to galvanise the Russian people who are growing increasingly against the war. He clearly wants to provoke a response.

Probably not, but thinking about it, it's a couple of stray missiles, not an actual attack on a nato country.

This is the tack they will take.

This may start a dialogue between NATO and Russia though. I suspect Russia will just blame Ukraine for them.

It's more than likely a stray missile. This feels like Russia desperately flinging its arms, after Kherson, the strong words at COP and the meeting of US/ China.

The reports are they're running low on everything and this could be them trying to wear Ukraine down before winter properly kicks in.

I suspect we'll see them try to get around the table in the new year but wouldn't hold my breath.

Salisbury 2018? We were attacked by the Russian state. Nothing will happen as a result of this.

They literally shot down a passenger jet killing hundreds of NATO citizens.

Conversly Turkey shot down a Russian military jet and nothing happened in response.

Jesus Christ the reaction to this has been crazy, does everyone just live in a constant state of anxiety?

NATO is not going to declare war on Russia because of two stray missiles hitting a couple of farmers 5km from the Ukraine border. Relax.

If it is two missiles and not one then they’ll do well to pass them both off as stray.

To do something over this, when we consider MH17 and Salisbury and the cowardice that we showed in response, would be illogical, they were not accidents! That cowardice by the west has been a factor in Putin’s aggression.

Even in the exceptionally unlikely event that Russia fired these into Poland on purpose, it doesn’t really change much. I notice the Russians are denying it so at worst it’s an accident.

NATO will demand an immediate response and explanation from Russia.

It’s very possible that NATO could respond by destroying some Russian  rocket launchers stationed in Ukraine. It would never attack anything inside of Russia without Russia attacking a NATO country full on.

if the reports of Ukraine shooting down a missile and it straying into Polish territory are accurate then it would be hard to pin this one on Russia.

NATO will want to establish the full facts before issuing a response.

They will either say it was a mistake like the yanks did when they struck the Chinese Embassy in Serbia or the missile was knocked off course by a Ukrainian anti air defence. At most NATO could bring in a no missile zone close to the Polish border West of Ukraine - they already have Patriot and the new British Sky Sabre anti air defence system deployed along the border.

Of course NATO Definitely shouldn't declare war or retaliate militarily, but it's not nothing either. The Polish will be furious about this. Russia responding with indignation about something that they've clearly done is frustrating also.
