Soyuncu

Come on now mate.

That’s clearly not based on talent but Soyuncu’s head most likely being out of the door.

Soyuncu could easily regain his form and look a beast in the right set up, he’s fast, strong, loves a Cruyff turn to excite the fans - albeit he’s given us more shocks than excitement this season.

Amartey in comparison is a solid 4th choice CB on relatively low wages.

Chelsea, Real Madrid, Juventus, Man City, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid all supposedly interested

Real Madrid have also apparently already asked what it would take to sign him

Chelsea ‘intend to sign’ PL man – Former agent claims Blues have financial ‘power’ player

Leicester City’s Çağlar Söyüncü has ended up in the sights of several top European clubs and the list includes Chelsea.

AS state the centre-back is ‘an option for Real Madrid’, even though they have a deal in place with the Blues’ outgoing defender, Antonio Rüdiger.

Los Blancos ‘asked about the conditions’ to sign the 25-year-old ‘on the instructions of Emilio Butragueño’. The report also mentions Chelsea interest in the Leicester City player.

It’s claimed the Blues, Manchester City and Juventus ‘intend to sign him’ this summer. The defender’s contract with the Foxes runs down in 2023 and it’s stated he’s worth €40m.

Apart from Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Juve, AS add that Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are also interested in the Leicester City defender.

The Catalan club already tried to sign the Turkey international, when he was Altınordu between 2014 and 2016.

Söyüncü’s former agent, Mustafa Dogru, has now backed him to leave Leicester City and join a club like Barca or Chelsea in the summer window.

“It is possible that Çaglar can go to play for Barcelona this summer. Barca already wanted to sign him when he played for Altınordu,” Dogru told AS.

“We have negotiated with them, and they had presented a project. But we thought that he should go to a team where he is a permanent starter, for him to develop properly. For this reason, we decided to accept the Freiburg proposal.

“I think clubs such as Liverpool, City or Chelsea have the power to sign Çaglar Söyüncü in the Premier League due to their economic conditions, but we must not forget French teams. PSG could be a surprise.”

To me it looks like his confidence has been shot all season, he’s not been the same player at all. On his day he’s the perfect defender for us, but he’s not had a good day for a while now. Shame we’d only get £20m for him, think he’s worth more than that and he’ll be hard to replace for that money too.

Let’s not stand in his way. Biggest criticism of him is how he gets emotional and erratic in big games and bored and switches off in others. Mentally he’s not a good footballer. Should be milking another ‘tOp ClUb’ for as much as we can.

There is a very good defender in there, and I think a manager like Simeone could get the best out of him. Someone who is obsessed with defensive organisation and likes defenders to be aggressive

It was his embarrassing lack of aggression against Spurs that seems to have been the final straw for Rodgers.

How are all these massive clubs after him? Are we missing something? Yes he’s a good player on his day but he is psychologically the weakest player in our squad and makes a lot of errors.

Sometimes it's a system thing - a lot of these top clubs have the type of players that Soyuncu shines amongst. He'll be playing on sides that have the ball much more and have strong presses and midfields that stop him being under so much pressure like he has been this season for us. Take away that aspect (the mental, that is) and he's got all the tools to be a top defender.

Yeah and I think once the decision to sell him had been made he was not going to play again for us. Spurs game was the tipping point for him.

Because Brendan doesn’t like him.

happens all the time. Good players don’t want to be somewhere so they down tools and start playing crap. So manager has to drop them.  Most owners won’t pay the the wages of someone who clearly doesn’t want to be here  and is playing badly so they sell.

it’s either that or he’s genuinely  turned crap in the last 18 months.  But whatever the reason you have to give credit to Amartey who HAS raised his game a little bit with playing regular  football.

But a fully fit , fully committed and firing on all cylinders Cags would be ahead of Big Dan every day of the week.

but that can’t hide the fact  Big Dan IS ahead of cags right now for a mixture of reasons.

Agreed. It’s quite clear Cags has downed tools and has had enough. It’s a shame but it’s just the way the game goes sometimes. Once this happens I’m a firm believer in just letting the player leave.

Yeh, he might be good for Simeone....but we don't have Simeone.

I honestly think we can upgrade Soyunchu no problem. He's looked a bit Sunday league for months now.

People on this forum would be calling for Simeone’s head after 2 weeks he plays turgid football

but Cags will do well for him, and he doesn’t want to be here anymore so it’s a good deal all around if it happens
