Leicester players spotted

Recommended Posts

Was travelling along the motorway with three mates on the way to watch City. We had flags and scarves flying. The car behind started flashing lights. He pulled alongside and grinned and waved at us. We looked blankly at him so he pulled away looking disappointed. As we looked at the back of his disappearing car my mate said "That was Tony James!"

I was very drunk at a boxing event might be Haye v harrison but not 100 percent sure.

I Saw someone who looked like ade akinkiyi so shouted Ade as a bit of joke to my surprise it was Ade Akinbiyi and he came over for a chat. I didn't really have any plan of what to say to him beyond drunkenly shouting his name so it was a bit awkward. His face dropped when I told him I was a Leicester fan. Told him something along the lines of that he was a good, hardworking honest pro and it wasn't his fault he cost so much money. He was no doubt thinking who's this bellend and he quickly went back about his businesses.

Saw Lee Philpott turning into Aylestone Rd in a flashy car back in the 90s. Once saw Jon Sammels in a car park, Narborough Rd area. Me and a mate waived to him. He looked chuffed that we recognised him, smiled and waived back.

Saw Gordon Banks somewhere near the Old Trocadero giving out signed photos in August (?) 1966.

Used to cycle past Lenny Glover's house every day on the way to school. Never saw him once!

Remarkably considering my age.

Fuchs outside his house a few times, Matty James and Ranieri (separate occasions in Waitrose Oadby). The best one by far was Micky Adams in a bar in Newcastle clearly on some stag night really drunk spouting off to anyone who would listen how famous he was. My mates (none had a clue who he was) couldn't care less but I find it funny to this day.

Alan Sheehan in Gala Casino (or whatever its called now).

Richard Stearman and James Wesolowski in Simpkins (as was).

Louis Dodds on Granby Street in his Port Vale gear (think he had just joined them from us before he became a Vale legend)

Sergio Hellings outside O'Neills, he'd been shopping.

Stephen Hughes and Gareth MacAuley in Fat Cats.

Matt Heath in Life.

Lars Hirschfeld in Las Vegas chippy (lol he was dead friendly and talkative).

The Birch in Natterjacks.

Hamza Choudhury in Coast to Coast (before he was a first teamer but his hair stood him out even then!)

George Taft in the chinese buffet place in the Highcross.

Guy Branston cycling with his kids on Dominion Road.

Emile Heskey in Dixons looking at a mega expensive hi-fi back in the day.

Rab Douglas multiple times.

Riyad Mahrez in Fosse Park MaccyD's the night (around 10pm) before the Werder Bremen friendly. Apparently he was always in there.

Alan Smith in Beaumont Leys Tesco on the day we go the Premier League trophy. He was doing some promo for Budweiser.

Youri in his car on Aylestone road, stopped at the lights. Gave my eagle eyed son a smile and a wave.

Not Leicester players but Peter Schmichael and Robbie Savage eating late night tapas in my Madrid hotel bar after the Atletico game. The Schmichaels were lovely and posed for a couple of pictures for fans who recognised them. Savage and the rest of the media people were less friendly.

Brian Deane, Ian Walker and Paul Dickov on Grandby Street going into San Carlo.

Pulled up next to a blacked out Range Rover in at traffic lights in town with number plate 5INCO. Singing out the window (pissed) was Frank Sinclair. Met him a few weeks later in 147 snooker club too.

Kolo Toure, Hamza, Riyad, Kante, Fofana, Benalouanne have all been at the Friday prayers at Central Mosque in Leicester a few times. Met Riyad at Tipu Sultan in Oadby too.

Conrad Logan at Meridian watching the first Inbetweeners film.

Jeffrey Bruma walking outside Highcross on a night out.

Max Gradel walking through Highcross with what seemed like a pretty large entourage after it had recently opened....I'm talking about a dozen people, and he even had a black shirt on with '7 Gradel' on the back.
