Leicester players spotted

Recommended Posts

I lived in the apartment above Andy King for 4-5 years a few years ago. He’d have other players over fairly regularly and some lived with him before his gf moved in with him. Ben Chilwell and James Maddison moved in after he left. It was quite a small building so everyone knew each other, usually had a fascinating chat about putting bins out or something equally banal.

I almost ran over Claudio Ranieri the week he moved to Leicester in Waitrose car park. That would have gone down well…

I was at the ten pin bowling centre in Nottingham, put my money in a pool table and set up the balls when a kid came along and took the black ball and shoves it down one of the pockets - as you'll know it doesn't return, so I angrily approached him "What the hell did you do that...." when from around the corner comes Alan Young by then of Notts County who I presume was the kids dad and the kid stood there next to him smug as anything. Did I ask Youngy for my 50p back? No, I quite like having teeth...and functioning limbs. Black ball is so over rated in Pool, works perfectly well without it.

Robbie Savage lived a few doors down from me in Glenfield.

As a kid I used to deliver newspapers to Mike Stringfellows. Roll on the years and he use to run the newsagents that delivered my papers.

One of my mates lived a couple of doors down from Savage. If he saw us playing football in the street, he'd come and have a quick kick about for a couple of minutes.

Considering his reputation as a bit of a nob, he is (or maybe was) really good with youngsters.

We'd have won the league by an even bigger margin because we'd have a manager who'd play Kante from the start

I lived next door to Okazaki at the top of New Walk for a year, used to bump into him frequently between New Walk and London Road and would see his i8 pulling out as I would head off to Uni.

Martin George used to rock up to the same building in his Rolls, was never sure if it was just a coincidence or if he was renting the apartment out to Shinji

Steve Thompson used to live behind my parents place in the 1990s in Hinckley.  Julian Joachim once came to his for a barbecue and I lost my tiny mind.

I played against Emile Heskey a couple of times as a kid as he was the same school year as me.  He was a fully grown man at 14, me and my team mates were definitely not.  Fast forward many years and his Mrs gave birth in the next room to my sister having her second kid.

I was a panelist on Fight Talk one week with Robbie Savage.  He was dead nice and actually tweeted about me doing standup shows during one Edinburgh Fringe to help me shift tickets.  He also called my Dad when the show had finished for a little chat, and my Dad gave him grief for how he celebrated a goal against us when he played for Birmingham.

My Dad saw Jamie Vardy in the casino not long after he'd been daft and offensive.  My Dad offered to buy him a drink and Vardy's response was "probably shouldn't, turns me into an idiot".

Oh and I once saw Darren Eadie in Halfords

Sat next to Frank Rolling at the Odeon cinema. Bumped into Steve Guppy at the same Cinema on a different occasion. Stood next to Matt Elliott in the toilets at the Curve. He asked me to stop staring. I didnt even need to go lol

From this thread it seems like Wesolowski and Stearman were regulars out in town together. I used to see them in Soar Point on Tuesday nights giving it the biggun' before they made it into the first team, flashing the cash and buying everyone drinks.

It was pound-a-pint night. They were particularly fond of 3-for-£1 Apple Sours.

I also went to school with Dicky Stearman. We shared classes together, and he knew exactly who I was, yet pretended not to when I said a very casual "hello" at the bar one night.

I was devastated. (I wasn't)

Met big Wes at the departure gate when flying back from New York a couple of years ago.  I said hello like a giddy school kid (I'm 46) and got a photo, apologising to his wife (?) for disturbing them.  Got on the plane, I turned left into business, Wes went right into cattle.....
