Been fixated for days on the idea that it could all come down to one single penalty . That 90th minute spot-kick, score is 2-0, if it comes in the tie is over....

But who gets to take the penalty? Rennes or Leicester?

The fear is immense :D

.....stop worrying, have you watched us versus Watford in the Championship play off!!!

We have already experienced your nightmare, we just can't see it happen again.

Its funny how everyone's really worried when I think we were much better for most of the game than them. Yes they were ok, particularly first twenty but we were better for the rest of the match. They are the ones who should be scared of us, and I reckon we'll win again tonight. Come on you foxes

I agree that we came to terms with them after the first half hour but it was worrying how long that took.  It seemed to be a combination of a tactical tweak and us upping our intensity.  Hopefully we don’t go into the game with a sit back mentality tonight because if they get one and are strongly on the front foot then we’ve seen how fragile our boys are with a vociferous crowd against them …..

Frankly, you caricature a little and indeed there are idiots on both sides and unfortunately it's as we say in France "the response of the shepherd to the shepherdess" It's unfortunate but it's like that and I have some witnessed directly in your beautiful city of Leicester.

Exactly, but unfortunately the violence has stemmed from your side, so far. Let's hope last night was the end of it.

Quite possibly because our away record this season stinks to high heaven. We could quite easily be 2 nil down and level pegging inside the opening 20 minutes tonight and then it would be pure torture.

Yeh , agree that we've got to be aggressive and on the front foot, we all know how going defensive for 90 mins will play out...

Shit I had totally forgotten it was you on the receiving end of that one! We have been absolute specialists, until the last few years, of collapses when nothing bad could possibly happen and genuine miracles... Looks more and more like we are the same club in two different countries :D (But you'd have to bottle it tonight to confirm this)

It’s only a few weeks since we lost a game we were winning with 25 seconds left ……

I dont see how you can't be worried when they're a team that starts quick and trails off and we're a team that starts slow and finally finds our way into the game. They will have a 20-30 minute window at the start of the game where they will be almost guaranteed to have plenty of good chances unless we change tactics specifically to constrict them at the start (not that I'm saying this is the right option). This tie will be decided by whether they have their shooting boots for the first half hour and whether we can keep our heads straight if we concede early

That said if it gets to half time at 0-0 then I'm fairly confident

For the folk currently in Rennes, decent atmosphere around town?

Lovely and sunny.... On one of the main drags, Mail François Mitterand, and there are about 50 City fans drinking outside and about 10 police keeping a discreet view.

Very chilled out....at the moment !

Nervous about this but hoping we can show some mettle. The FA Cup last year is giving me hope that we can stand up to the pressure and get the job done, but Brendan’s past European record and our recent record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory has me worried.

I hope we can go and take the game to them, as if we sit back and try and hold on it’s going to be a very long game. If Söyüncü is unavailable I guess we have to hope Fofana can slot in, on the left hand side no less next to Amartey. Think we’ll play Daka up top, but unsure who we’ll have out wide between Maddison/ Albrighton / Lookman / Barnes. Expecting something similar to the home leg.

               Schmeichel

Justin - Amartey - Fofana - Thomas

      Tielemans - Ndidi - KDH

  Maddison  -  Daka  -  Barnes

Not sure about attempts to give this match an English-versus-the-French flavor.  The French see the Bretons somewhat as you see the Welsh … and they are from the same stock as the Welsh ...

as proved by @Finnegan’s uncharacteristic near-silence in this thread … conflicted, mate?

Oh, I should clarify, I think the Rennes fans are sound, after the home leg I ended up hugging some scruffy bugger in the street who I could only describe as French Jesus. :P It's a shame a handful of morons on their end decided to attack our fans in the pub. I've found the whole affair to be good natured for the most part - it seems the idiots on our side are more concerned with smashing up Nottingham than getting involved with European aggro. That or they spend so much on Stone Island and snorting gear that they can't afford a passport.

It was one of the Rennes guys on here that brought up John Cleese in Holy Grail. If he can see the funny side I don't see why you can't. :fishing:
