Le Renard Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 He has what we've been lacking for the last 2 seasons in the middle of the park, he can carry the ball with pace and power, he doesn't get knocked off the ball. That is not to the detriment of Ndidi who brings other qualities to the pitch.
Max Power Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 Rolls-Royce. The way he was pulling away from them deep into the game was majestic. Slowish start but the lad is a player.
Jimmy Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 he was outstanding that run for the fourth goal was something else and not something Wilf would have produced, doing the same job in a different way, he will be some player for us

Very much does what we need him for, he is the man who passes the ball to the player making the assist, he makes the space and life easier for our players.

When he muscled his way out of defence, released the ball to help setup the third (?) goal, blimey!! Lad looks quality
Lesta2014 Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 I think I fell in love with him tonight what a performance. Pace power strength quality on the ball awareness. Keep this up and he’s going to be one hell of a player for us
matty98 Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 Need to see more of those bulldozing runs with the ball up the pitch! He was fantastic today.
turtmcfly Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 A step up from Saturday, and he was pretty good then. Actually (a bit) more excited by his performance than I was by Daka's. He's 'ball hungry' in exactly the right way - wanting it, asking for it and brilliant at keeping it. And still running at pace in the 90th minute. Superb. It'll only be used as a stick to beat him with when people get on his back needlessly. If he continues performances like this I'll be happy
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 20 October 2021 Popular Post Share Posted 20 October 2021 That 2nd half performance was sensational. Can't have been easy knowing the defence was vulnerable today and anything but a win and we're pretty much out and yet he didn't hide, him and Tielemans for that 15-20 mins after half time were breathtaking.

Tanya Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 When I rewatch the game I want to just focus on him - he's such a powerhouse in the midfield. Keeps possession and can charge up the field with pace and precision.`He's not great at winning the ball but he harries defenders and cuts off passing games. He was a giant today. Very pleased to see that he is constantly improving.
Sunbury Fox Posted 20 October 2021 Share Posted 20 October 2021 His ability to break forward from midfield, creating space for others by running at, drawing and dribbling past defenders is crucial to making us creative enough in this 352 formation. If we have 3 CBs and an out and out CDM we end up with too many defensive players. Feel bad saying it, as I love Wilf, but in a 352 Soumaré is probably a better bet to partner Youri.
Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 20 October 2021 Author Popular Post Share Posted 20 October 2021 Let's appreciate his work for Daka's 4th goal again. Shields the ball to help us defend, then carries the ball up the pitch before playing a simple pass to Maddison, for plays a peach of a pass to Daka. Ndidi is a world class CDM, but he's not capable of play like this. In some ways this is Kante-esque because it turns defence into attack. Ndidi is brilliant at winning the ball back, but his weakness perhaps is that he isn't as technical as Tielemans and Maddison. Soumare is nowhere near as good defensively as Ndidi, but his ability on the ball is great. Ndombele cost 60m, and for me I've already seen more from Soumare than him. He's still only played around 10 games for us too, wait till the end of the season, this guy will be considered a great signing.

It's very reminiscent of 15/16 counter attacks with the way Soumare drives forwards with the ball and the composure with which Daka finishes it. These guys are the future of the club, along with Fofana. Those 3 could form a spine for 10 years for any team. No doubt they will all leave in due course, Fofana the most likely, but I think it's phenomenal planning from the club that not only do we currently have a great team, but it won't be one that deteriorates after a few years, like what happened to Spurs and Arsenal. Vardy retires - Daka is here to take over. Evans retires, Fofana is here. Can Soumare take over from Tielemans? Probably not by himself, but he will prove himself to be a top class Premier League midfielder. Players like Vieria and Toure have shown that physicality with good technique is a killer combination.
