Blues bar & grill has gone

I'll really miss them having one person on service before match day. I've always really enjoyed waiting half an hour for a warm pint.

On one hand, it was great to have something non "chain-ey" near the ground.

On the flipside, the pints there were utter shite, so we stopped bothering a few years back. Any improvement on flat lager in plastic cups would be welcome.

Will be a shame if it just becomes a basic-ass Holiday Inn bar. The food was alright.

Absolutely rammed on match days but can’t imagine there to be much trade on a normal week day so not surprised. Shame another pub in the city has gone though.

Only went in once or twice after setting out tifos the night before games. Always pretty quiet yeah.

Went to a StPauli match a couple years ago, they had an area about the size of that waste ground near the KP, it had all sorts going on, stalls selling food and drinks, face painting, music, some like fairground stuff, a beat the goalie stall, all done by the fans.

This was just a basic second div Saturday game but the atmosphere was buzzing, after the game as well people hang around for a drink wait for the traffic to calm down.

Have we ever had anything like this?

Could we? Couldn't kp make a load of money if they extended the match day experience with this kind of thing?

You only have to look down the road at the Tigers and see what they do. Band playing at full time in the concourse and fans continue milling around for a couple of hours.

That's a bit crap. Good location so close to the ground.

What's it becoming?

Wouldn’t be surprised if it stays as something similar. They’ll have seen how well it does on match days and want to take the money for themselves.

Tbf I think these are the plans with the new stand.

I think it’s a very fine line between making it seem genuine and making it feel like a sanitised experience on those sort of things

Yes.

Always thought rugby get it right with the doom bar tents. That said if you've ever got a train back from Twickenham it's full of middle aged men wearing barbours singing the national anthem and farting. Doesn't make for a pleasant experience so for that reason I'm out.

Seems strange that they didn’t want to “go out with a bang” as a section 25 has to be served at least 6 months in advance

They did mate. Had two blokes behind the bar on Sunday. Record service times.

What a way to go.

That was a great post in so many ways until you mentioned the words "match day experience".
