Our fans need to appreciate that others don’t see our players as having the same value as we do. We add in an amount that reflects how important we feel they are to us.

an example would be vestergaard - most on here would be happy to take around £8m for him. Other fans would probably rate him at £10/12m.

V few fans out there will appreciate the £80m for wes. They will think we’re taking the piss and yet we see £80m as cheap!

similarly madders. Few of our fans would be content below £60m and yet opposition supporters wouldn’t understand how we can ask £50m - more likely 40/45m.

but they are players contracted to Lcfc and as such, we set a price where we will do business.

I've always said, players have two values. They have their transfer market value and the have what they are worth to their club.

Take Vardy for example. How much do you think a 35 year old Vardy with increasing injuries is worth on the market? A few million? Now how much is he worth to us?

Maddison is the same. He's probably worth about £45/50 million on the market but last year he was our POTY, top scorer, most assists... That would make him worth a lot more to us.

You can't really compare what other players have went for though, it's so erratic. Who you comparing it with? Coutinho going for £17m or Graelish going for £100m?

If Newcastle were after Mount, how much would Chelsea value him at?

Newcastle will press on with talks over deal for James Maddison but will not go to Leicester's £60m asking price after opening bid of £35m was rejected

Newcastle want to maintain talks with Leicester over a deal for James Maddison after seeing a structured bid of £35million rejected last week.

We understand the Magpies will continue negotiations in the coming days and hope that a compromise on price can be agreed.

They will not go close to the £60m asking price that has been mooted over the weekend and sources say a deal for the 25-year-old is likely to prove difficult to complete.

That proves my point though because they would value him at how much he means to them. Homegrown, absolutely no need to sell etc. They wouldn't value him at market value. They would value him way above that which is what I was saying.

Lmao we don’t have to sell. Why would we go below asking price?

Well I wouldn't sell him for 60m either, so they might as well stop wasting our time putting in ridiculous offers. Our compromise should be, when we pick up the phone, when they make their next ridiculous offer. We say  80m and we will talk it over, and probably still reject it. Anything less than 80m  then fvck off, and stop wasting our time!

Pity we can't get a co-operative club to put in a (fake) £65m bid, which we then reject. Perhaps then Newcastle will stop wasting our time with 40/50m approaches.

Newcastle might be the co-operative club for us to start the bidding…

Time to come out and say NO structured deals and that's that. Also 60 million is way too little for a player who not only scores goals but creates them and is English too. fee has to be north of 80 million especially as he is young enough to have potential re-sale value.

Personally I don't think any club should sell any player to Newcastle. Just morally bankrupt to do so.

There must be a reason why Newcastle bid £35m. We haven't picked that figure out of the clear blue sky.

Honestly? Part of it is undoubtedly NUFC hammering home the message that just because our majority owners are rich, doesn't mean we're going to splash the cash like Man City and Chelsea did, even if the players are great.

If rumours are true and Maddison is keen on the move, then there's no way you're getting £80m for him. A larger upfront fee and the rest as bonuses might work, but we're not going to put up £60m in one lump sum, surely?

Why would you even believe that?

You do know the media can make up/hear any shit they want, right?
